First time ever my phone has gone off for an Amber alert. What makes that trigger?

 

Mom is An idiot, takes her 2 year old into store and leaves her infant in the car.

There is location services on every single phone that can't be turned off. Works for 911 calls. Your phone can always be tracked to a location. My guess is that it triggers on most phones within a certain mile radius.

I was in line to pay at Kroger's and my phone and most of the phones around me went off with the alert at the same time! Very scary. Praying for a safe end to the situation.

 

Were you at the Ft. Mitchell Kroger's? That is right next to where they found the car.

 

I wonder if the thief's phone went off with the alert and it spooked him into parking the car and running?

-Very scary situation and so glad it had a good ending.

-The mom did something incredibly stupid.

-Hopefully something good comes from this and all parents become more vigilant about leaving baby unattended.

I couldn't imagine leaving a newborn unattended, in a car, in a parking lot. Just doesn't make sense to me.

 

I'm glad everything turned out ok for the baby though. The person that stole the car needs to be charged with felony theft and kidnapping.

We all got the loud text alarms too. But if that alarm helped get the baby home safely, then I am happy to put up with that small nusance.

I hope the baby is found safely. The mother needs to be arrested or heavily fined. You do NOT leave a baby unattended in a running car while you go pay for gas.

 

I see where you're coming from, but my thoughts on charging/arresting people are to try and change that behavior. Had police been called cause a kid was left unattended, then yea, charge her. My guess is her behavior was altered today. I'd notify social services and let them do their investigation and go from there based on their findings.

I would assume she would pay for gas the same as any othey person would? I believe gas stations take cash/credit/debit/checks or whatever, whether you are a single mom or some guy trying to put gas in a lawn mower.

She was absolutely wrong to leave the baby. She probably thought the sleeping infant strapped in the car seat was ok for a minute or 2 while she paid for gas. Stupid mother.

 

BUT---she is still the victim here. Some low life scum bag stole her car.

If she can stop and pump the gas, go in and pay for the gas without taking her eyes off the car, or waking a sleeping baby, what is the harm.

 

It's not her fault that someone took the car.
