Nice article.

I had no idea Jay Cobb was the DC at Trinity.

Came on board this past spring

I know that everyone understands that Coach Beatty is a great coach in terms of his knowledge of the game. I think he is very underrated as a motivator and psychologist.

Very interesting article. Beatty usually doesn't open up so much. I've said it before-----Trinity did not have super talent this year and this was one of Beatty's better coaching jobs. He has liked the seniors on this team from the preseason on for their intangibles. Some people think that Trinity is "The Big Green Monster" and championships just fall into their laps. Not true---T has to work and withstand travails and doubts just like anyone else.

I will be looking forward to the next article.

I suggest that all Trinity fans read this article.

This was a season that had a chance to go bad. Congratulations to all of the coaches. I heard Coach Beatty speak to a group early last summer. He talked about how hard he was pushing this group. They were playing a tough national schedule without necessarily all of the talent needed for that tough schedule. There is a fine line between pushing to achieve and pushing to the point where they quit on you. A superb coaching job to know the difference.

Beatty is a terrific coach. His attitude in the article seemed genuine.

Questions for Trinity folks:

1. There was rumor in a thread earlier in the year that Beatty might be looking to move on, maybe to Alabama? Is that anything more than speculation?

2. With all of his success, could you see him moving into the college ranks at any point?

I called them the "Big Green Monster" in my post and I NEVER said championships fall into their laps. I KNOW the kids and coaches work very hard to get where they are. When you're at the top of the heap consistantly for so long, and the other teams are looking up from below, they are the "Big Green Monster" respectfully saying.

I think it depends on how old Beatty is (I am not sure) and how long he plans to stay in coaching. I understand the thinking that he has nothing else to prove and has no family keeping him in Louisville also.

Several years ago a school from Georgia (their name escapes me) tried tooth and nail to get him. He never said it outloud but I think he was tempted but decided to stay. In terms of moving on to college, not sure. I don't know if a college would bring him on as a head coach and being a head coach as long as he has and then going back as a OC would be difficult I guess.

Maybe not "Big Green Monster", maybe I should post "Big Green Shamrock".

Beatty's success at Trinity has been incredibly impressive. Trinity has been a championship program for a long time, but he has seperated Trinity from the rest. Great article.

I don't think he was talking about you. From what I remember of your posts they were always respectful. There were, however, a few in the 'Interesting tidbit about the super district' and the later part of the 'Trinity 47 -Dixie 14: Final Score' thread, who essentially made the claim that Trinity is practically guaranteed to win state. Not because of the work they put in, but because of a 'superior' talent pool, higher enrollment and other 'unfair' advantages.

One poster is particular loudly advocated all public 6A schools to withdraw from the KHSAA because they had done nothing to 'fix' the 'unfair discrepancy'.

I'm not trying to restart that argument here, just giving the background (or so I believe) for his comment.

And yes, I would say 'Big Green Monster' is a fair title to hang. The Rocks aren't always the top team by any stretch, but they are often the team that everyone aims to beat.

Oh, I understand. I just wanted to make it clear that in my Big Green Monster post I didn't type championships fall into T's lap. Thanks.

You know, as you get older, paranoia is that friend that always hangs around. :lol2:
