Anyone ever been to the Philippines?

I am headed to Manila around January 12 and will be there until about January 19. Has anyone ever been there? Anything I should see? know someone there but they will be very busy during that time, so I looking for ideas from an American on sightseeing while I am off on my own.

I was there while I was in the military. Didn't really go out and see things as I was stationed in S Korea and that was a weekend trip a bunch of us made and we had a blast. Can't really go into details but we spent most of our time in the bars. Beautiful country though of what we saw.

I'm about 2 weeks away from the start of this trip, getting excited and a bit nervous as well.

I've never been, but my cousin traveled there for work last year. He had a blast though, said the food and nightlife was great. I was actually talking to him about it while he was in for Christmas.

A little more than a week away and I'm not sure about this trip. I'll be flying standby on a companion pass and the flights from Tokyo to Manila are over sold.

 

Business Elite looks good, and my priority will be high, and with a hire date that has me no lower than #2 on the list. But even with the flight being over sold in coach, they are still selling tickets for coach. So It may be close.

 

Then I have to worry about this tooth that just chipped and I think part of a filling came out too. Its driving me crazy but I think I'll try to wait a few weeks to get it worked on. As I hate going to the dentists, they all scare the heck out of me, lol
