Owensboro 27 North Oldham 24

I'm not quite sure what this means?

In 4 classes, neither of these teams would be playing and this game would have never happened.

We're still confused

Hard fought game by both teams. Hopefully everyone gets home safe and sound from their travels. Good luck to Owensboro next week.

Then there's not a lot I can do for you.

Congrats to Owensboro on the win. Must've been a fun bus ride home.

TJ James with 183 yds rushing

What a finish.

Congrats on the win.

How many of you would have loved to have made that catch in that type of game?

Humm it with me...

Nah nah nah!!! nah nah nah!!! :thumb:

Unbelievable ending...thank God they have now used up their Hail Mary for the yr

Happy for Owensboro but at the same time it is just brutal to think of the disappointment on the other sideline. As said above, the decision to call the quick timeout will haunt forever.

No the time out will not-the hail mary will. time out was called because it was 4th and short. Fg attempts for North Oldham on the year was 0-9. A 4th down play was an option instead of kicking the fg. After debate fg was chosen. So here is the information to set the record straight.

That's your judgment on it. Because here's the thing - even if they were deciding to go for it on 4th down, you wouldn't want to leave any time in case you didn't make it.

Call a timeout at 3 seconds, kick the field goal. You hit it, game over. You miss it, OT. That's how it is done. I'm not trying to slam the guy in the least. 999 times out of 1,000 it all ends up OK anyway. But that's why you let the clock run down in that situation.

Never thought of it that way but you're right.

Was you at the game? Do you know what type of range that the North Oldham kicker has? Do you even know where the ball was or the situation on 4th down?

North had 2 timeouts left according to the scoreboard. So if they wanted to go for it on 4th down they could have gotten it called another time out and made the kick closer or maybe even scored a touchdown.

The ball ended up on the 22 yard line after the 3rd down play and also more toward the hash. Owensboro jumped off sides moving it to the 17 making it a 34 yard Field goal instead of a 39 yard try. The kick was a low line drive from that distance that didn't clear by much, so a 39 yard kick may have been lower and could have been blocked and ran back for a touchdown. So Coach Martin could have thinking that.

People should know the whole story before they make commrnts. These are 16 and 17 year old kids, not the college and NFL kickers you watch on TV each weekend.

Great season Coach Martin and the rest of the North Oldham Mustangs. You took over a program that less than 10 years ago everyone wanted to schedule for homecoming and had it one fluke play away from the 4A state championship.

Coach Martin and his wife treat each one of these kids as if they were their very own. Hold your head high Ole friend.

GO MUSTANGS!!!!!

I watched the replay on the webcast. The guys calling the game, who I'm assuming have called other games for North Oldham, mention two kickers with good legs. It was 3rd and 5 from the 18. They ran a draw to the 15 making it 4th and 2 and immediately called timeout. From the sounds of the situation, it was always the plan to kick. Whatever offsides penalty at that point you're remembering you are misremembering. The ball did not move from the point it was at when he called the timeout.

Again, from the sound of what the commentators were saying, that North Oldham had two kickers with good legs and range, it seems like a FG was always in the offing at that point. The fact that they ran a draw to the inside of the field to set it up seems to support that idea.

I expressed regret that North Oldham would lose in such a way and merely echoed a comment of someone else that the decision to call a timeout at that point would haunt. You guys are turning it into something it wasn't.

Wow!

It is time to party like it's 1999.

2000 was the last time. Before that was 1999. Before that 1986.

I'm not quite sure what this means?

The Corbin vs Central basically ended the same way with a Hail Mary tip for central.
