What is the record the last few years? I guess Moral Victories are below Covington Catholic?

Please do not put words in my mouth. And what does the last few years records have to do with anything? You believe in Moral Victories, I do not.

Why didn't you say that to begin with instead of trying to chastise me?

Yes, I definitely believe in moral victories.

If you are getting your you know what handed to you twice a year, every year, then coming back to within 3 in a playoff loss is looking like a moral victory to me.

This is not your typical Birds team either let's get that straight.

After Hoge leaves the playing field might even be more level at least in the near future.

What is the record the last few years? It is extremely lopsided, correct? And if so doesn't it lean more towards a moral victory than a rivalry?

It is definitely lopsided. However, that in no way dictates the feelings between players and coaches on either side and that was proven this evening; if anything it strengthens it. One team wants to end the streak desperately and the other desperently wants to continue it. I can guarantee you no one on Cov Cath's sideline or in the locker room after the game was saying "Well at least we lost by three and kept it a close game!".

I don't get why people get so upset with the "moral victory" question. My guess is deep down everyone of those CCH boys walked off the field feeling a lot better about themselves than they did in September. That might fall under "moral victory" and there's nothing wrong with that. They SHOULD feel better about themselves.

Thanks Clyde.

I know it is hard for fans to be objective so soon after another loss to Highlands.

I agree that CCH should feel better about their effort tonight as compared to the last several meetings. I do not think that anyone does or should feel victorious when the scoreboard say you are not. Maybe I am too competitive to buy in to the Moral Victory stuff, it is just how I am built.

I agree with what you two are saying here, and as such, I would qualify my response in these terms:

I think for the actual players on the team, yes, it was a moral victory for them tonight for this season. However, for Cov Cath as an overall program, no, it was not a moral victory. As a program, the 2014 season just goes down in the Cov Cath/Highlands matchup as 2 more L's in a long line of L's without any W's.

If you are correct then I would look for a change.

Maybe. Or maybe we all have different definitions of the term.

Thanks Clyde.

I am actually a HHS fan. I've just played the game and have been in the situation. If you work as hard as teams like HHS and Cov Cath do, there is never a "good" loss. I really think you would be hard pressed to find many people who disagree with me here. Getting that close to a W and falling short hurts even more.

I guess I always associate moral victories with less successful programs.

Maybe. Or maybe we all have different definitions of the term.

That is probably the best point in this entire thread.
