Hundreds of Teachers Disciplined in KY and OH

Featured Replies

Forgive me for a naive question.

Are we just talking "state testing" and/or "standardized testing" (e.g. ACT); or any old exam?

For this list, it would be state testing. Which includes the ACT in March that is given at schools.

What he said.

Unfortunately, Superintendents are bound by law to report most of these to the Standards Board in Kentucky (determines certification), not sure about Ohio or Indiana. Even when the superintendent has investigated and determined nothing was illegal or wrong. Many times just a careless and unintentional mistake by an employee that happens in every workplace environment.

I would guess 95-99% go nowhere and many times are not even heard before the board. An unbelievable stress on the employee.

A couple familiar names on there....wow.

I dont like when reporters do this though.

So what is fair to be on the list?

DUI?

Inappropriate relationships?

Domestic abuse?

Is there anything that is fair if you are a public employee?

One of the alcohol-related offenses on the list involves a sports coach who had a beer while he and his student athletes were eating at a restaurant before or after a sporting contest. Coach probably should have known better but hardly a big deal. Unfortunately, since this list appears to be nothing more than a compilation of offenses that public school districts are required to report to the state, minor offenders get thrown in with the headline-grabbers.

Pulls it up as a document.

What actions might result in a "testing violation?"

Ask someone who went to LMHS. They know all about testing. Louisville though, not NKY.

Admonishment?

I wondered the same things. Sounds like you were told you were a bad boy/girl.
