Huh? Only a die hard SEC honk can watch that game tonight and still say that. Only against SEC defenses can dreadful qbs put up a hundred points. Alabama is deserving of a top 4 spot, but the rest of that conference is no better than anyone else. At least the country was put out of the Miss St misery tonight, by a team fresh off a 30-0 blanking by a .500 team.

We don't have a whole lot of data points to go on.

 

Bama certainly looks like they're tops in the nation right now, but at the beginning of the year, they struggled on a neutral field against a West Virginia team that's going to finish fifth or sixth in the Big XII.

 

Auburn was a play away from losing to the third-place team in the Big XII.

 

Miss St. and Ole Miss played a parade of nobodies in the non-conference and Miss. St. let UAB (currently 6-6) score 34 points in their game back in September.

 

Now... none of this is to say that the SEC isn't the best league. They are -- by a long shot. But they're not invincible.

 

Even if they were... hegemony is boring. It's better for the sport to have the talent, the playoff spaces, and the good teams spread across multiple conferences and many different parts of the country.

If the top 3 win out....I think it would be Oregon and FSU in one game and Bama and OSU or TCU in the other game.

 

Oregon v FSU would be a crazy good game

 

I'm thinking Florida State's luck will finally run out in the first round of the playoffs.

Good question considering how they've struggled. I hope they just win out.

So it really gets interesting if FSU and Ohio State lose. Two B12 teams in? As a B12 alum, that's a dream scenario. I assume its Bama, Oregon, FSU and TCU this week, with Ohio State, Baylor and Michigan State next? Is Sparty back in picture? Still give them the nod as best B10 team, and yes I know they lost at home to Bucks. What if Arizona beats then Ducks again? This could be complete chaos.

Chaos may hasten going to an 8 team playoff...so I am all for it.

My only thought is that a four team playoff will never work.. It basically changes little from the bcs system everyone complained about. We need at least 8 teams in, 16 would be ideal.

I think 8 is ideal but I like 16 more than 4...
