Should they be considering who the loss would be to? Either BC, Gators or Duke/Ga Tech

 

Neither Boston College or Florida would do them any favors as unranked teams. Georgia Tech or Duke would be better but the ACC stigma would do them in.

 

Should they? Honestly, probably not. If they were the ACC Champion that would be the major argument for them.

Losing to or struggling against unrated teams only hurt some schools.

The committee has shown that.

Let's take it this way:

 

If Alabama beats Mississippi State by around a touchdown, then the SEC has to like their chances.

 

A 1 loss Mississippi State, with that loss coming to Alabama, who is probably the SEC's choice as the best representative, then both are likely to make the playoff.

 

If they get there, then the committee isn't likely to have a rematch (especially so soon) in the 1st Round (but if they did, it'd guarantee an SEC representative in the final). Splitting them means there's a chance of an all-SEC final, and you aren't risking a ton thinking they could each win versus weighing the probability that they both lose in the 1st Round and neither gets there.

 

What do you think? Will the stripes possibly have a hand in keeping MSU from getting blown out in a loss that would drop them too far down in the rankings?

Seems like the ACC Refs gave the Noles a couple of calls and no calls that may have assisted them as well...of course I just thought they were regular calls, but you've convinced me that the ACC will cheat to ensure FSU will stay undefeated...

Alabama will not lose, not even in the realm of possibilities. SEC puts 2 in as it should.

I personally don't believe that happens with the other things that have happened. I think you've got Oregon and FSU as locks if they win out. I think either TCU or Baylor gets in - but not both. But I wouldn't be surprised if an SEC Champion Alabama (which they'd still have a shot at being since MSU lost) was still in ahead of OSU. I wouldn't be surprised if an SEC runner-up Alabama team still got in over Ohio State (i.e. beating Auburn but losing to Mizzou). And if Ohio State lost to Wisconsin? Bama's getting in unless they lose both games.

If Bama falls tonight(Which I do not see happening) they will drop to at least five.
