Stay in the game somehow, then bring in your backup QB with the game on the line as time is running out.

I don't care what side of the fence you're on, that's pretty funny right there.

Hilarious!

Platoon team. A team that has played a decent schedule. Really good O-line, an all-district type running back, 150 yards passing, 0-1 turnovers, a fundamental front 7, really good db's.

I think Boyle and Madisonville are the only 2 that have a shot.

In addition: how good can an average athlete be if they practice every day at ONE position? And, how good can an average athlete be if they practice their position every day against the starters on the other side of the ball?

If you think about it, it is counterproductive to take your "average" athletes and make them learn TWO positions, because they only get to practice each of their TWO positions two days a week and practice them against your back up players. Wouldn't they get better if they only had to practice ONE position, and practiced that ONE position every single day, and practiced that ONE position against the best you have on the other side of the ball?

Your scenario does make a lot of sense. I just don't understand why more teams don't try it, if indeed it is that simple. I have been a fan of platooning for years. The top schools across the state/country do it, but why don't more try it? Are these schools the best because they platoon, or do they just have great coaches/feeder systems?

Fear. Coaches are scared to try it. It's easier to say, "we don't have the talent to do that", then it is to develop a bench player to be a starter at DE.

I have told some friends at your school of choice that for them to succeed in the playoffs they have to platoon. They give the safe answer that they can't, but I guarantee they can. They have the players to do it. They just have to commit to doing it.

Platoon a team with at least 15 kids on each side and have a balanced offense it works SK is 30-4 in the last 34 games 3 seasons.

OMG, pls make it stop or somebody answer him for God's sake...

You know playing 15 on each side just might enable SK to stop HHS.

Nah.

Funny!

Does Highlands still use 8 receivers subbing in and out every play?

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

Yep! Throw in a QB, center, and maybe a guard and that's a recipe for success! Oppps! There I go again, Giving info out to the enemy. Forget I said anything.

Soooooo, Simon Kenton is good this year, right?

It does not matter what happened last week, last year or what is written on the shirts or the opponents' shirts, they need to go 1-0 this week.

As long as HHS players play like they need to go 1-0 each week and win for and with their playing brothers, then it will be hard to stop them.

It would be nice if some other schools tried it.. As logical as it is, I just don't understand why more teams are not at least trying it.. I understand the fear, but obviously it works. The top tier high school teams do it and obviously college and pro teams do it. The crazy thing is very few high school coaches even give it a chance in this state.
