October 31, 201411 yr Doesnt mean he will stay. Definitely doesn't mean he'll stay, but it does sweeten the pot for him. Shows commitment from UK. Obviously if a big name comes calling I suspect he'll go. But he likely won't leave for just anywhere.
October 31, 201411 yr Really? Wow! For either side or just if Stoops wants out? I just read "no buyout" so I assume if Stoops decides to leave he owes nothing.
October 31, 201411 yr I just read "no buyout" so I assume if Stoops decides to leave he owes nothing. Mitch eluded to damaged relationships in his presser with regards to buyouts.
October 31, 201411 yr I just read "no buyout" so I assume if Stoops decides to leave he owes nothing. I don't care for that, but good for Stoops.
October 31, 201411 yr I don't care for that, but good for Stoops. Barnhart says he doesn't believe in them.
October 31, 201411 yr Mitch eluded to damaged relationships in his presser with regards to buyouts. From my point of view, with no buyout, there is really no contract. Stoops simply got a statement of benefit increases.
October 31, 201411 yr At the end of the day UK will need to pay Stoops a lot more money if they want him to stay long term, a lot more. Of course this assumes he keeps winning.
October 31, 201411 yr From my point of view, with no buyout, there is really no contract. Stoops simply got a statement of benefit increases. I thought this was odd also. Is this a growing trend in the coaching world? I remember a few decades ago, some coaches would put stipulations that there would be a buyout except if X university were to hire them. Generally X university was a big name school the coach was with before the current job such as Notre Dame, Ohio State, Bama, etc.. I haven't heard of no buyouts. I think Cal has a buyout if memory serve correct.
October 31, 201411 yr At the end of the day UK will need to pay Stoops a lot more money if they want him to stay long term, a lot more. Of course this assumes he keeps winning. They've already changed his contract once. If he keeps winning they'll keep changing the contract.
October 31, 201411 yr They've already changed his contract once. If he keeps winning they'll keep changing the contract. I hear you Clyde. I am saying UK needs to be offering at least as much, if not more, than anyone else that comes calling.
October 31, 201411 yr Shady?Shady, fringe, flirt with the edge of what's allowable maybe more than normal. Pressure to win the quarter mil games.
October 31, 201411 yr Author Deal is worth 21.5 million including last season and this season. His average salary is now 3.6 million.
October 31, 201411 yr 3.6 is probably top dollar at UK. That's a very well paid coach at a bball school. However, no buy out is really surprising. Michigan could walk in with 5 million per year and no penalty.
