Michigan AD Resigns

1. OK

2. You don't think the Big 10 has any relevance at all? Who would you replace them in the top 5 conf. with?

3. Just because your now a slacker doesn't mean you couldn't apply yourself and get back there #Oldguysgettingbusy :)

4. Michigan is surrounded by talent in the surrounding states, if Mark Stoops can recruit Ohio then Michigan can too.

Michigan can recruit nationally. Just got a 4* LB commit today from a kid in Maryland.

Stoops just signed a contract extension through 2020.

With no buyout. Stoops can leave whenever he wants.

Stoops is not leaving.

Michigan is going to go after a coach who is more established IMO. I think they make a run at Dan Mullen.

Michigan traditionalists (i.e. boosters) have been rumored to not want to shift to a spread offense. That would eliminate Mullen as a candidate, if this is true IMO.

Why would Michigan want Barnhart?

SEC AD who has hired Cal and Stoops. Also, the non-revenue sports at UK have been stellar under his watch. He has led expansion projects at Rupp and Commonwealth- he has a resume that would be worth considering. The gig will likely go to a sitting AD. I'm just throwing it out there.

Here are the candidates, serious ones, according to a Michigan Fan Blog:

Brad Bates: Bo nominated him as the next Michigan AD. Has the requisite experience at Michigan, and as an AD at BC. Likely that Bates is choice 1 or 1A.

Ward Manuel: As with Bates, has a great deal of experience with Michigan, and as AD at Buffalo and UConn.

Jeff Long: A good history within the Michigan athletic department, and understands it well. Currently the AD at Arkansas. Has hired Petrino and Bielema. To me, he would appear the favorite.

Bob DeCarolis: Spent a long time in the Michigan athletic department and is presently at Oregon State as AD. He hired Mike Riley, who has done well.

Brad Bates?

I guarantee comments are forthcoming.

Why? What's the story on Brad Bates?

Cal would have come regardless of the AD, IMO, but I'll give you that one.

Stoops is currently 7-13. While they have obviously improved, that's nothing to get your AD hired away.

People asking if the Michigan job is still plausible just look over in East Lansing. Mich simply swung and missed, then took one looking.

Michigan will for the foreseeable future be one of the top 2-3 jobs in the Big 10, just need the right Coach to take advantage of the opportunity.

Top 1 or 2.

Top 1 or 2.

IMO it was Michigan, Ohio State, then Penn State (of course the Penn State was never available).

The momentum means something, IMO, especially if Stoops were to follow him. Mitch also hired Rich Brooks.

1. That blew up in their face last time

2. Isn't States O a lot like UF's when Tebow was there? That's a version of the spread

C. I wanted to join in on the numbering my points and put my own spin on it.
