October 31, 201411 yr That's a fair statement. The roster is strong, but some more developed quality depth and being accustomed to playing at a high level on a consistent basis will come in due time. The lack of depth really shows itself on special teams. The fact that we can't come up with a better punter that Ryan Johnson has been a disaster waiting to happen. FSU absolutely CRUSHED UofL in the field position battles last night. FSU's go ahead touchdown came after Louisville was forced to punt from their own 12. The miserable punt was returned for only a few yards but was so short FSU started from the UofL 38. We also have serious blocking problems in the return game. FSU averaged 5.5 yards more per return than UofL. Special teams tend to be a depth issue (but we're used to special teams being awful because I think Charlie Strong wasn't sure they really existed) and can only really be corrected over time.
October 31, 201411 yr One more note on the FSU fans from last night, just in case a specific one ever stumbles onto this thread: to the guy in the FSU hat and the Washington Capitals jacket whose name I forget, I'm sorry about that dude at the end of the game. You mentioned how awesome and first class all the Louisville fans had been right up until that walking, talking redneck stereotype with the giant plug of tobacco in his face and the spotty goatee came along and made a phenomenally ignorant comment about you being black and having a white woman with you. I guess him and the other butthats he was with thought it was funny since they were mad because Louisville lost in spectacular fashion. Just awful. I'm glad you met plenty of other people before that dude. I know all fanbases have their problems, but there's a certain section of the Louisville fan base in particular I notice at every game and all the time that quite frankly, instead of talking, would be better served by eating their own fist until they choked on the fingers. I've never been more embarrassed and ashamed to be wearing the same shirt as another person in my entire life.
