Simon Kenton Locker Room Fire?

Featured Replies

It's their senior night.

If someone gets a concussion....at least they got it on senior night!

They should definitely play, but it might be better to move the game to Saturday if at all possible so the equipment is all fitted properly and all loose ends are tied up.

Also, kudos to Covington Catholic and Beechwood for helping out the folks at Simon Kenton. I hate it for the players and staff that they have lost everything in the fire.

Friday night is less than 48 hours after the fire. A lot to do to make sure the kids are equipped safely and also mentally prepared. The last 24 hours have to have been mentally exhausting!

Definitely push the game game to Saturday!

Really sad to hear this news my thoughts and prayers are with the pioneers! Also it can't be said enough kudos to the schools in which stepped up to help the pioneers out! For sure making my way to independence Tonorrow night to see the game!

That is really neat. Will they all have the same color jersey on? I would imagine they'll have to in order keep the confusion to a minimum.

Their uniforms only had smoke and water damage. They have been sent to a company to clean them in time for the game tomorrow.

Glad to hear they can still play the game. This might make it the best game of the year!

Not nearly as difficult to fit these guys as you are making it out to be. Their helmet and shoulder pad sizes are on file. As equipment comes in they simply fit the right equipment to the right player starting with your 1's and working your way down.

Per the news, 8 schools have stepped up to help.

Looks like the whole complex was damaged but it appears that the top floor was hit the hardest. It makes my stomach churn but once again, the stuff lost can be replaced, luckily no personal injuries.

Sorry to hear about this; glad more than anything that no one was hurt.

Add Walton Verona and Dixie Heights to the list of equipment donors. I enjoyed the skittle comment. Regardless of how they look the team gets to play and that's what counts.

Facilities and equipment can be replaced and repaired. Thank God no one was injured. Please take a lot of pics Babette. It will be the only time I get to see some SK players in Colonel Red Helmets. :thumb: Humor me and be sure #37 wears one.

A big salute and thank you to all who have contributed. Please let us know if there's a fund, not the uk1fan SK fund ; ), that folks can cut a check to at a local bank. Myself and a few others I know would like to do so. Thanks in advance for the information.

After I read the OP I said other schools should help, and a few post later I saw where they are helping. I too like the skittles comment, and hope they have lots of photos.

Wasn't there a fire or something at local school a few years ago as well, that also damaged football equipment and other schools came to the rescue then as well?

Glad every thing worked out for the Pioneers. Thank you to all the other teams for helping them out. We love are Friday night football in Independence. Go Pioneers!

Just got on twitter SK players tweeting they are going to wear CovCath and Beechwood equipment helmets.

I think this is awesome and very generous but I hate to have to bring this up when the goal here is to find equipment to make sure SK can play tonite but one has to be concerned with liability issues with this equipment.

Shoulder pads and pants are one thing but helmets are entirely different animal.

I know one school that could have outfitted SK with all of the same team colors and equipment but was deemed outdated by governing bodies and thrown away.

They once gave this equipment to an up and starting program friend and then was reminded by their attorneys that this could never happen again...Its a damn shame that we live in this world but it is what it is...

Good luck to SK and I hope they will be able to pull this huge task off in time for Sr nite:thumb:
