Simon Kenton Locker Room Fire?

Featured Replies

I think this is awesome and very generous but I hate to have to bring this up when the goal here is to find equipment to make sure SK can play tonite but one has to be concerned with liability issues with this equipment.

Shoulder pads and pants are one thing but helmets are entirely different animal.

I know one school that could have outfitted SK with all of the same team colors and equipment but was deemed outdated by governing bodies and thrown away.

They once gave this equipment to an up and starting program friend and then was reminded by their attorneys that this could never happen again...Its a damn shame that we live in this world but it is what it is...

Good luck to SK and I hope they will be able to pull this huge task off in time for Sr nite:thumb:

As long as the helmets have the current recertification sticker and paperwork, liability shouldn't be an issue regardless of who is wearing the helmet. I know all the Kenton county schools have all their helmets reconditioned and certified through Capital Varsity every single year whether they've been worn or not. I can't imagine any other football playing school that doesn't do the same.

Totally understand and would agree but I will bet releases and paperwork is being signed for obvious reasons...:thumb:

Well all the seniors will have a talking point at their reunions for years to come along with pictures and a story for their kids when they play.

Had that interior turf started fire it would still be burning...Hate to be the General Contractor and or Electrical Contractor on this one...

FWIW, who does SK play tonite?

News said it started with a battery inside a floor scrubber that started the fire. I'm guessing one of the floor cleaners you see at Krogers going up and down the aisle.

I think they play Bullit North.

SK plays Bullitt Central.

SK plays Bullitt Central.

It should be a good game. Bullitt Central is undefeated in 5A.

As someone mentioned, after they win this game tonight it will be a story these guys, particularly the seniors, will be telling for years to come. Would love to be able to catch the video on ihigh later on.

Agreed...I think is is really cool that they will leave the helmets as is, sorta like that All Star thingy:thumb:

20 yr from now trivia question...What kid or kids played for two HS in the same season and didn't have to sit out and didnt commit a KHSAA violation...or better yet what kid or kids won both a 6A State Championship and a 1A State Championship?

I know it is terrible news folks, but no one was injured or killed and everything lost is material and can be replaced.

Good luck to SK and their program as this will only make you stronger as a program

Maybe Highlands can send some Blue Koolaid out to Independence tonite as I am sure they lost all of the drink mix as well...

Thanks Content1 for your support and friendship! This will be a night to remember and to capture for years to come. I will do my best to shoot as much as I possibly can. Thanks to Dixie and all the teams who have supported SK in our time of need. This just proves what a great community we all live in!

Glad to hear the Football Community in the area is helping out. No matter who you play for, football is a brotherhood and that bond will be shown tonight with all the different helmets.

Football is a great teacher.

Nobody should have more football than the Bengals. Could they help in any way?

Sad to hear this happened. Glad to see the whole NKY community rally around them in their time of need.

So awesome to see the community step up and help out in a big way for friend and foe alike. Hope the SK kids play their best game tonight in the face of adversity. One note, it always amazes me how people step up and come together as a community in the face of tragedy, would love to imagine this type of love and support shown all the time, what a great world that would be to live in. Good luck tonight Pioneers

My son just came home from walk throughs. Equipment is coming in from schools all over NKY. He has already been fitted for Helmet & shoulder pads. I hear they plan on wearing all the helmets as they are, with the team stickers on them to show appreciation of the different schools coming together to support them. Lots of shoes, gloves and under armor lost that can all be replaced. The personnel stuff, some of them have had in their lockers or they have wore every game day is what can't be replaced. Thank goodness for no injuries.

I hope the press is there to show this......nky beats up on each other in posts, etc, but when it gets down to the bottom, the support for each other is there......
