Highlands Elder is always a great game. Elder has found ways to win close ones multiple times. I expect another close one either way. I hope for a close injury free game.

I know, but I'm trying to figure out a scenario in a game with that score on how HHS would even have an opportunity to get a safety!

Elder 24 Birds 17

Elder 24 Birds 17

This game means nothing to Highlands except bragging rights. Elder will be playing for Harbin points toward the playoffs. I'm sure Highlands coaches will have the state title in mind and not risk injuries to the players whom are "key" players on a "not so deep" HHS team. Wouldn't be surprised to see the two's in for the Birds, in the second half, regardless of the score. I think the Birds found out what their weaknesses were from CC of Florida a couple of weeks ago. My two cents worth.

If this is a competitive game, I would be shocked if HHS pulled its starters at any point. The coaches may have a revolt on their hand if they pull starters in a close game...I am sure the players have been pointing toward this game since they lost a close one to Elder last year.

I agree with JB. I was kinda surprised Hoge played a whole half at the Holmes game. Way too important to this team for him to be healthy. Take the emotion out of it and sit him the second half. This team goes as Hoge goes. Without his passing threat, eight in the box kills any running game.

I was surprised that Hoge played at all against Holmes as he was hobbled against Christopher Columbus and HHS could beat Holmes with its JV team. However, I have never seen HHS rest its starters in a close game - basically throwing a game worrying about injuries. If you are going to schedule good teams, you should try to beat them and not rest starters. Now if the game becomes one sided either way, I would definitely rest key players (especially Hoge).

Ok so why is Highlands playing this game again? I'm confused.

The fact that Hoge came back in the second half of the CC game (down 34-7) when he was clearly hobbled and it would have been easy to sit him AND the fact that he played the first half against Holmes leads me to believe that he will play the whole game against Elder - unless the game is one sided or he gets dinged.

That's clever but not even close.. I'm speaking of the of the Highlands prediction of 2 points.

What did Herman Edwards say? You play to win the game!

Yeah that...you are smoking crack if you think Weinrich babies his players and pulls them out. Just my 2 cents.
