Dang. Totally forgot about the 5 team district. This is a must win for Mercer County IMO.

Hilton has proven that Taylor County is a sleeping giant. (Superintendent was right!!!) It amazes me that excuse after excuse has been made since Coach Turpin stepped down whom was also a hard nosed coach. You do what your talent can do, and Dudley has proven that this program will be one to recon with in 4A. He has made this position one of the best jobs in Central Kentucky. Also would not be surprised if he stays that the community does not insist upon consolidation. It is very hard to get a great football coach and he has proven it every where he has been. Best of Luck to the Cards.

Taylor by a lot. The wheels have fallen off at Mercer.

I will go with Taylor. Probably energized after very close game with LexCath. But could go either way.

Mercer County will be without Dustin Baker and possibly Deron Bartleson as well. After hearing that, I'm going with Taylor County.

Injuries have turned this Mercer County season into a season of hell. I hope that the energy and confidence in the football program that was present at the beginning of the year remains next season. This is a young team and when healthy they are a quality team. I think this team has packed it in for the season. I hate that for them. Every week someone new is injured and I think losing Dustin for possibly the rest of the season is the straw that broke the camel's back for Mercer County.

It is a must win for the Titans. If they lose and then beat Boyle, they will still not make it. Taylor won against Marion, so a win and they are in the playoffs. If Mercer wins and lose to Boyle then it will most likely be a three way tie for the 3rd and 4th seeds. Marion has 1 lose and 1 win in the district with Boyle this week and Lex. Cath. next week. Not that they can't win but a win over those two is not likely. That would then have them with 1 win and 3 loses. So with a Mercer lose this week then they will be out of the playoffs. If they were to beat Boyle next week then there would be tie with Marion and Marion would be the 4th seed with the head to head tie breaker.

If you can get a couple of TD ahead of TC then your team wins. They have an awful passing game and will not be able to catch up. On the other hand, do not let them score first and let them keep the ball. TC/ Dudley will milk that clock till it's cream.

With Drew Davis back Mercer's passing offense improves. Unfortunately he is missing Chase Moore and Dustin Baker so his options will be limited. I hope Mercer County can pull out the victory but the mood here in Mercer County isn't positive.

Mercer has been plagued by injuries all season. Losing baker is not good by any means. It could make mercer rely on some other guys to carry the load. Not giving up on them yet. Mc 35 tc 28

While watching the Boyle/Taylor game warmups, by the eye test I'm guessing someone that wasn't aware of each team that 8 out of 10 would have picked Taylor to win. They have some huge and talented players on that team. They will only get better each week under Dudley's coaching. I like Taylor in this game also.

I think you're hitting the Optimism Kool Aid just a little too hard.

 

1. Taylor Co. has yet to prove to anyone that they will be a force to be reckoned with...check these facts on the program:

In the last 15 years Taylor Co has....

...had 6 Head Coaches (new one every 2.5 years)

...played in 8 total playoff games (about every other year)

...won ONE playoff game

 

 

2. Let us not forget that this is also the place that ran off Brad Todd and his son who, you know, kind of went on to be an SEC QB...so their ability to sink a quality vessel is strong.

 

3. It is clearly not one of the best jobs in Central KY and the winning percentages, playoff wins, and general attitude about the program are evidence enough. When you cut through 6 coaches in 15 years, at some point, you gotta just admit that there is something wrong with a place...not to mention firing a coach mid-season in High School.

 

4. If the above statistics don't show you that the good people of Taylor Co. don't care about football, then nothing will. Regardless of what Hilton does, no movements are going to form on the back of a "Let's do What's Best for our Football Program" agenda.

 

5. In the last 17 years, Tayor Co. has made it past the first round of the playoffs twice. The 1999 team was one of those special teams that will hit a small community once in a blue moon...the only problem is that everyone forever after, thinks that that blue moon "could be the norm if we just had the right coach".

Calpreps rates every team in the nation every year since 2003. They have a top 7000 which basically is a "good team" better than half of the teams in the nation. Here are 4 "county schools" records vs the top 7000 since 2003.
