Hmm. I am growing tired of watching this thread now grow into something else.

However, I am a Boyle Fan but I can not understand why Raider is avoiding the statement that Rebel posted . What makes Taylor County different than 1992 Rebels? They are in the same shape that Boyle was in then. Boyle turned into a juggernaut. Why can't Taylor?...

In the 1990's Boyle had a total of three losing seasons...1990, 91, and 93...the 1992 Rebels went 7-4. After that, Boyle became very competitive under Chuck Smith but really didn't get over the hump until they were hit with a major infusion of talent (the Lafew brothers, Chuck's son, Overstreet, Tamme, and several more). Taylor Co. has always had some basketball talent but those guys have for the most part never played football. Until that changes, that sudden talent infusion is not going to happen.

Can they win that district next year? Maybe. But that's a big maybe. You all seem to act as though Mercer and Marion just discovered football and a "good coach" can take a perennial loser and instantly pass those two in a year's time. Be wary, those two places, where they're on, are as good as any mid-sized rural school in the state. The Jess twins, well, yeah, they kind of stink.

I also would like to note that while I keep providing statistics and historical facts, I am being combated by theories based on vague comparisons and hypothetical happenings, all standing on the foundation that all of the ideal instances take place.

History doesn't agree with you all and your wishful prognosises...which is why the "Boyle Co.'s" of the world are so few and far between.

Actually the talent infuse was pretty quick. The championships were a little later. Neal Brown played on Chuck's Boyle teams from '94 to '97. They also had a really good QB whose name escapes me. I think he played at Georgetown. Add to that Ed Sleet in the first few Chuck years and he got a lot out of the talent that was there. Bobby Leffew was a Senior in '98 but was hurt and granted another year of "eligibility" for the '99 season so he only saw one state title. Chuck's son was on the last three years of the Smith reign.

The QB was Bart Johnson.

The championships came with the "big time" talent...they had some nice players including Brown and Johnson, but the 5 out of 6 run came on the backs of those types of players paired with major DI-A and future NFL player talent.

The same held true for the 2009-2010 teams which were full of excellent high school players and some small college players, but Dawson provided the get-out-of-jail card that really put them over the top.

But I do concede that Boyle's run and the job Smith did is one of the greatest, if not the greatest run for a non-metro school KY has ever seen.

1999 Taylor County made it one game away from the 2A State Championship game in the old 4 class system. They have proven it can be done and if Dudley was to stick around no doubt they will compete. With the realignment next year it will be easier for Taylor to excel. Doesn't mean they will but it's do-able under the right leadership. He did do a miracle at Bourbon County.

Yes but Dudley won't be at Taylor next year. You can write it down.

Where do you think he will be?

Commander, I am with you. I think Coach Hilton is a great fit for Taylor County. They are very similar in talent to the Bell County teams he had. Coach Hilton knows better than anyone in the state that you have to develop your talent, because if people thought he had talent at Bell, I can tell you that there was much better talent at Middlesboro, he took his time and built them into Winners. He does not worry if a guy can run a 4.6, he cares if a guy can block and tackle and be aggressive. If he stays then lookout Central Kentucky, and as far as Taylor County goes there will be no more dodgeball with the scheduling, he will play the best. Better build more bleachers. Cardinal Hilton

Where do you think he will be?

Who ever he can get the most money out of.

Where do you think he will be?

Marion County

...Taylor County (is) very similar in talent to the Bell County teams (Coach Hilton) had...

Who ever he can get the most money out of.

That is the way it has all ways been.

Marion County

Could be right.

With the re-alignment for the 2015-2018 season and with Boyle Co. and Lex Cath leaving that district/ class... Coach Dudley just might stay in Taylor Co. Just look at the district that they will compete in... Class 4A district 5 ( East Jessamine, West Jessamine, Mercer Co. and Marion Co. ). All winnable for Taylor Co and coach Dudley. I would stay if I was him and pile me a bunch of district championship.

Taylor Co. will come off the money to keep him I believe, the question will be how much and who is willing to match or exceed that price tag. Taylor co. has a chance to win out with 3 winnable games to finish the season as well.
