I think you're hitting the Optimism Kool Aid just a little too hard.

1. Taylor Co. has yet to prove to anyone that they will be a force to be reckoned with...check these facts on the program:

In the last 15 years Taylor Co has....

...had 6 Head Coaches (new one every 2.5 years)

...played in 8 total playoff games (about every other year)

...won ONE playoff game

2. Let us not forget that this is also the place that ran off Brad Todd and his son who, you know, kind of went on to be an SEC QB...so their ability to sink a quality vessel is strong.

3. It is clearly not one of the best jobs in Central KY and the winning percentages, playoff wins, and general attitude about the program are evidence enough. When you cut through 6 coaches in 15 years, at some point, you gotta just admit that there is something wrong with a place...not to mention firing a coach mid-season in High School.

4. If the above statistics don't show you that the good people of Taylor Co. don't care about football, then nothing will. Regardless of what Hilton does, no movements are going to form on the back of a "Let's do What's Best for our Football Program" agenda.

5. In the last 17 years, Taylor Co. has made it past the first round of the playoffs twice. The 1999 team was one of those special teams that will hit a small community once in a blue moon...the only problem is that everyone forever after, thinks that that blue moon "could be the norm if we just had the right coach".

Not to put words in anyone's mouth but I believe that is the point Option was trying to make. Taylor Co. has been so bad for some many years Hilton has showed that its a place you can win games. They won their 1st district game since they moved to this new district, make the playoffs, and could win 2 games.

Also as stated above when you look at Taylor Co. kids it's not like physically they are over matched from the eye test, he even said they looked bigger than Boyle Co. And Catholic and Boyle moving district next year will help as well.

Taylor County since 1997-2000, were in a 2A district that saw 3 different champions, with Brad Todd as the coach. And then in the weakest 3A district in the state. In 45 years they only have 8 winning seasons. So take this from someone that has coached and played for over 44 years. Hilton has done more with the program in a month than anyone other than Harry Reif did in the early 80's. Also Bill Lindsey had some success. Good coaches coach what they know, and do what their talent will allow them to do. I have a great deal of respect for coaches that have earned what they have and paved the way for what is here today. Coach Hilton has helped pave the way for 37 years. So it is about doing a good job and making an investment. That's all. It seems to me that if you are a successful coach that you are disliked by losers, and you Raider could learn a lot from Hilton.

Using all 44 years of your playing and coaching experience, can you draw out where I said I doubted Coach Hilton's ability as a coach?

I did do a lot of questioning of the program and community's ability to live up to the high claims you have assigned to them...none of which you addressed directly other than to give your "monumental month" theory.

Hilton has beaten a team with an interim coach that Taylor almost beat last season.

Nothing special here. Taylor County is still a bad job with little talent. (Sorry. The last post got cut off.)

I can remember back in the early 90's that Boyle County was a bad job with little talent.

I know nothing about the administration, but with their support and a great coach they can compete. There is some talent to work with, just need the backing of the community and a good stable coach.

It's really weird to fire a coach midseason for no reason. Really weird.

Raider, you are the one that brought out Brad Todd, and I was just stating the fact that Hilton had done more in a month than the last coach did in four years. Everyone realizes Taylor County obvious problems. (Parents that do not know football or never played with unrealistic expectations). However, my point is when you put someone in that does not play games, and owe's anyone anything, and can walk away then you have success. Coach Hilton is not a politician and has proven when you play players in the right positions and coach them like they need to be coached then they can be successful. It is evident that after 4 years of losing that the Superintendent made the right decision. I hope nothing but the best for the Cardinals the rest of the year, and to coaches Hilton and Cotton Adams two legends.

This is the 3rd football hire in his tenure. Next year will be their 4th. That says a lot about the admin.

I find it odd that you keep coming back to this.

You do know that in KY public schools the power of hiring and firing of the High School football coach as well as the staff for the high school, unless they commit some professional standards violation, is normally the jurisdiction of the HS Principal. It's odd in the first place that you have a Super whose got his hands so far into the football program. That alone is a major red flag.

Great post rebel! I agree Taylor isn't much different than Boyle when you like at the type of kids that make up the school and football team. The Boyle program grew because a coach was willing to invest in the program. Building a program starts at little league, and unless your in Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, or some other larger cities in Kentucky you are not going to have great talent yer in and year out. It takes a coach and coaching staff willing to work and put the hours in the program at all levels to be successful.

No different than the President or CEO, he is ultimately responsible for everything/everyone in the district. He just has had the nads to execute what most are not willing to do. The superintendent has the power to do what needs to be done when he has the support of the BOE.

This is the 3rd football hire in his tenure. Next year will be their 4th. That says a lot about the admin.

Says he doesn't like losing, maybe

6 different coaches...which means 6 different approaches to running a program for the most part...over a 15 year span of time...all of which has culminated in 1 total playoff win. Yeah, it's coaching that's the problem at Taylor Co.

Hmm. I am growing tired of watching this thread now grow into something else.

However, I am a Boyle Fan but I can not understand why Raider is avoiding the statement that Rebel posted . What makes Taylor County different than 1992 Rebels? They are in the same shape that Boyle was in then. Boyle turned into a juggernaut. Why cant Taylor?

Look at their district next year

Marion - They Beat Marion

Mercer - Marion Beat them

West Jess- Mercer Beat them

East Jess- West Jess beat them

If things this year remain the same next year then looks like they have a chance of a district championship. Wonderful how all of those things fall into place. I'm not saying any guarentees. I'm saying Taylor County is not in a bad spot . You can argue all you want but Dudley has put himself into position to make the program turn.
