Pikeville should be #1, after that beechwood then mayfield. Mayfield is not as strong this year as these two. BUT, they will still beat beechwood to get to BG again where pikeville will win.

I still got my $ on Mayfield, nothing I have seen makes me think that anyone has a resume that knocks them out of #1. Should Mf and Pike be lucky enough to make it to BG I like the Cards in a heads up game simply because run defense is the Cards strongest attribute. I am not sold on thinking that a win over Paintsville by any margin is a reason to move ahead of Mf but the Belfry win certainly grabs my attention and is reason enough if one feels they should be #1, just not me with my Cardinal blinders on.

Did all of those players play the game against Beechwood or did the Tigers have a similar depleted roster to defeat?

 

Either way I think it is close between the two and if we did a blind resume against Mayfield I think both actually would have a very nice case for #1.

The backup QB who played the rest of the Beechwood game for CCH was the starting QB last year for CCH. Everyone else that were injured versus Ryle played to my knowledge.

I didn't notice Dressman going out vs. Beechwood. It must have been just the last few offensive plays he missed. Did Dressman start vs. Ryle? Did McGinnis practice at QB in the week before Ryle? When I said #3 QB, I was referring to McGinnis.

I think 2-4 could be interchangeable even though Williamsburg hasn't played anyone. I also think 5-8 are the same way.

If Frankfort had beat Franklin County and went to Naples, FL and won, would they be Top 2 in 1A also?

I find it hard for them to build a case for being more deserving of the #1 spot than Mayfield when the ONLY time mayfield would even dare play a 1A team is when they have to in district play. Graves County, Paducah Tilghman, freaking McCracken County or Caldwell County which remains for a Halloween showdown. That's 2 6A a 3A and arguably the best team in 2A. OR you can play sub par 1A and 2A teams and weak bottom of the barrel 3A teams like Sheldon Clark (1-7). You want to be the best, at least try and play the best. From the outside looking in that schedule seems weak, switch places we would be 7-0 and I'd bet they would be 4-3 if that.

They did beat Belfrey, which is a nice win, but your point is what I have been making except in support of Beechwood. Mayfield and BW play a very similar schedule, lots of large schools to get ready for playoffs. Mayfield is the reigning champ, so they get #1 based on that and only one loss. Beechwood is #2, they've lost to two teams that IMO every 1a or 2a team in this state loses to. and only one game vs a 1a team, and that's because they had to play it, it's a district game.

While I agree, that Belfrey win is big and sends a message to all of 1A that Pike is a serious contender
