Miami Columbus (FL) 38 Highlands 34

Columbus should have won by 3 tds if not for their unforced turnovers. HHS scored 3 tds in the 4th quarter when Columbus started mixing in second string players so everyone could play. Columbus was better on both sides of the ball and special teams. Columbus was the better team by far, don't let the score fool you.

Nice post! Recall one of the turnovers being an interception...HMMM...right after HHS threw and interception. Was that one forced or unforced. And I didn't realize you knew the Fla team so well that you knew when they put in the second teamers. If they did put them in, they weren't in very long!

Ggclfan, good summary. Agree on Hoge which is why I thought at half they should sit him. I was wrong buy we sure can't have him go out.

Guess weather really didn't have an impact on them. Sorry for wasting people's time on that one.

You still might be right...they may have scored 60 if they weren't shivering the entire time!

Wow!

Edit.

Enjoy your stay!

Don't agree! There 1's were in the whole game. What it looked like was Columbus wasn't in the shape birds were. Time just ran out on highlands. Haters going to hate! Still number one in NKY. You would be a fool to think different.

Unforced turnovers? Seriously? How many did Highlands have?

Nice of WR#1 and family to make the drive up to see a high school football game. Great game to scout.

Columbus was the better team today. They had the size on Highlands. Someone else mentioned that they had the size of a GCLS team and I agree. I also thought that the strength of the Columbus team was a factor. It appeared that their Oline could just plow over the HHS Dline and did several times. Highlands must need a better weight room. LOL

For Highlands, I thought that Hoge had a huge game, given that his ankle was hurting from the first series on. The Birds did not have any quit in them today, even when it looked like they were done for at 38-21 after the KO return.

IMHO, no team in 4A will be as big and powerful as Columbus.

Wow the birds dug deep in the 2nd half. The CC team was big skilled and well coached. HHS has shown great growth. Mend the injuries quickly boys. The shuttle pass was effective late as CC was bringing the house. I thought that Weyer and New stepped up. Nice to see Nick Kendall break a few runs.

One thing is for certain Hoge is the Cadillac, we have nobody ready for the stage this year. Boys protect the bell cow!

By reading your post, you weren't at the game and if you were, you must have been watching the cheerleaders. You have no clue!!!! (I knew the bolded was coming, that's why I them this question.)

About half way through the 4th quarter, I had a nice conversation with two men from Florida. I specifically asked these gentlemen if ANY 2nd team members of CC are playing or have played in the game and they said "NO." They also said that brought 75 players and they traveled around 1300 miles to get to the fort.

The Miami fans are great and gave the HHS players and program a big thumbs up. The weather was perfect and I saw many Florida fans wearing T-shirts(Mex.)

This CC team was in tip top shape. The O AND D line were big but not fat. I saw two of their linemen that had spare tires around their waste but did not hang over their belt. Perhaps bicycle tires. Their linebackers were top notch, big and could move. Their wide outs had speed to burn. The QB looked like HOGE, enough said. By the end of the game neither one of these teams looked gassed. CC has a team full of athletes. The WR's blocked down field and stayed on their blocks, as they should. Their fullback was a load.

On CC's D side of the ball, the corners and DB's were getting good chucks at the LOS on the Birds WR's so it was taking a little longer to get into their routes. The CC's D line was occasionally putting pressure on Hoge, but Hoge handled the pressure by rolling out or just scrambling. Kudos to the HHS O line.

This was a very physical game and many players from both teams were hurting. I hope both teams players get better fast.

Also turnovers, penalty's and special teams played a big part of this game for BOTH teams. After all it's high school football. I'm proud of my Birds!!

That's what I was thinking until the score popped up.

Everyone agree with cldcom?

And welcome aboard!

Hell no!!!!

Question for Highlands fans? Is this a moral victory for Highlands?

If your in 4A and Highlands is healthy, a lot of teams could end up with moral victories.

Really same phobia of the Birds I see. Was SK scheduling the birds next year a moral victory. I can assure you this no way could Christopher Columbus played like Boone did the other night.
