Cutouts, sheer paneling, high leg slits, short hemlines, and strapless tops are just a few of the popular styles that students are wearing. But showing up in one of these types of dresses meant that some students weren’t allowed into Bingham High School’s homecoming dance." Watch the news clip, one of the girls shown wearing the dress she wore to the dance, it BARELY comes down far enough to cover her underwear. Girls, if you want to show your "who-haw" do it the old fashioned way...take a selfie and post it on twitter (being sarcastic of course for those that couldn't tell). Come dressed appropriately and you can participate. Walk out of school and suffer the consequences there too.
Clyde Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I love a good protest....as long as those protesting are willing to accept the consequences. My guess is there are lot more important issues these students should be protesting.
doubledeuce Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 My daughter went to a Spring Formal at her school in a dress I thought was appropriate, however, when she arrived they told her she was not allowed in wearing that dress. She called me all upset and she felt embarrassed and ask me what should she do, I told her I will bring another dress and you can change into that one. Again, I was pretty strict when it came to what she could wear or not wear and I saw nothing wrong with the dress but as I told her they(the school) said no you cannot wear it so that means you cannot wear it, period. I did not go and make a big scene and demand she be permitted to wear it and go to the dance, I set an example of how to follow the rules even if you do not agree, respect authority.

lawildcat Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 What are these kids going to do when they go out in the real world and their employer tells them they are dressed inappropriately!?

lawildcat Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Like burning their bra's? You know how much a good bra costs these days!?!?
SportsGuy41017 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 You know how much a good bra costs these days!?!? Do you think I would know? LOL!
CincySportsFan Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 With just a cursory look at the dresses in the video, the one dark blue one is the only one that'd I really see as a problem. The others? Meh...not so much.
Irish Cat Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 What are these kids going to do when they go out in the real world and their employer tells them they are dressed inappropriately!? Most kids that I know today seem to have a real phobia of jobs or work in general. For a lot of them I would be happy if they could just get most of them to show up for work, regardless of what they are wearing.
Irish Cat Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 While I feel that a dress code is appropriate for a school dance, I've not looked into this particular situation to comment on whether this particular schools dress code goes to far or not. However, I will say that unfortunately the school probably does have to step up and enforce the dress code because a lot of parents don't seem to care how their kids are dressed when they go out. I've seen some at football games this year that looked straight up like hookers. I have two daughters myself, and they would have to get past my dead body before they went to a game dressed like some of these girls do.
nkypete Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 When my sons were in high school, my wife and I chaperoned a couple Homecoming dances (four hours that usually did not go quickly enough for us). Part of our "entertainment" to amuse ourselves was counting "Oh my golly" dresses where we wondered how the girls' mothers allowed them to go out of the house wearing that. But it was our job to keep proper order during the dance, not to tell anyone to leave because we thought they were dressed inappropriately.
