U.S. health premiums creep up, but out-of-pocket costs jump:

Featured Replies

The only person I'm experienced with is me. My co-pays are up, my deductible is up. My premiums are up. I had a plan and payments I was happy with now I don't. Thanks Obama.

:idunno: Didn't you know that if you liked your plan, you could keep it. Seems like I heard that once or twice from somebody.

Our premiums are up, out of pocket is up, deductibles are up.

Our premiums are up, out of pocket is up, deductibles are up.

And nearly this presidential term is up. Things are looking up.

Obama administration: Liars, cheaters, and thieves.

" cost going up slower than a generation " maybe in the vacuum of your one company . A lot could be said of supporters of Obamacare and the president in general . I'll skip it .

And don't start me. The simple truth is that costs are going up more slowly than they have in a generation. I have the experience of my company which had its best renewal in memory and a board that I sit on where the renewal was also very favorable. The ACA is working. A half million people in this state have insurance that didn't have it before. Insurance renewals are coming in far below the rate increases we had experienced for a generation or more. I went back and checked. Every single one of my employees experienced a net REDUCTION in their share of insurance costs this year. I increased the company's share of family coverage by $100.00 per month. That was enough to more than cover the very modest rate increase.

Well I'm glad us taxpayers can now pay for all those who choose not to work and get free health care from those of us do work. Is that the American way or Obama way?

For political reasons, many of the most onerous elements of Obamacare have been unconstitutionally delayed by a cowardly president who fears losing control of the U.S. Senate. Also, there is a big difference in insurance costs and total cost of health care.

The day is coming when Obamacare takes full effect because Democrats will be powerless to illegally delay its implementation any longer to minimize its political pain. At that point, I fully expect Democratic candidates to point out how insurance costs were lower under our current outlaw president, and I fully expect the two-time Obama voters to tout those statistics and blame Republicans for the effects of Obamacare.

Of the half million you speak of, 80% are Medicaid. That is more tax money going out than the premiums are bringing in.

Need to remember the employer mandate was (illegally) postponed. This pushed out the shock wave that is coming. Of course now they want the 2015 employer rates to not come out until after the election. See if employer drag their feet in releasing the 2015 rates or release them later than they have in the past.

My insurance went from a 400 individual deductible and max out of pocket of 2500, to a "low premium" (which is actually the same premium I had) and high deductible plan. So now my individual deductible is 1500, my out of pocket max is 5000, and I still pay 25% after the deductible is met. And when I call to get an estimate on a procedure or test, they tell me they can't give me any idea until after it's billed.

It has made even going to the doctor for a check up incredibly expensive. And I know there are people who are putting off testing that their doctor really thinks they need because they can't afford lab work, a procedure, etc.

Truly what has occurred is that those of us who were paying our taxes, paying our insurance, are now paying extra for the people who didn't pay taxes or pay insurance so that they can have "affordable healthcare" as well. The people in our country who do things the right way are punished to support the people who do not, and it's asinine.

That is what is the most bogus part of the whole health care system. It is the only market where you can't shop. It is like buying a car and getting the price after you sign the title.

Yep, and should be part of a sweeping health insurance reform. And I'll put the needle down again on my broken record, had we had health insurance reform a decade ago, we wouldn't have been in the situation for any need of health care reform.

You were okay until this one. Annual check up is not subject to deductible or copay under the ACA. Makes me wonder if you have a real problem or just are sure it must be bad because everybody tells you it is.
