I agree with it being so balanced. There really hasn't been a dominant team this year. It's too bad I think they are stuck against the Louisville Region at Rupp!:scared:

Yeah , they play Region 7.(Ballard, Eastern, J-town, etc.) Ballard just beat Eastern, so I guess they are out now, but you get the idea.

One last thing, I have seen some selfish play this year from a lot of teams but Paintsville is about 4 basketballs short of being real good

Pugh and Bundy launched way to many shots and simply froze Slone out. The kid touched the ball 5 times in the first half and converted on four of those. He could have scored at will, truly the most dominant player on the floor. Not overrated, underutilized. My last words would be to Ms. Slone, get him the heck out of there.

Getting beat by a team that played 1 Sr, 1 Jr. 3 Soph's, 2 Fr. and an 8th you CANNOT, I REPEAT CANNOT, USE THE EXCUSE WE WERE YOUNG.....its weak......

 

 

Landon Clone is the most overrated player ever in the 15th, the kid can shoot but the refs protect him like he is Jordan, if the game is called soft he scores over 20, if not he is avg. at best.

 

 

 

The top 2 Sophmores in this region are Bryant from SV and May from Belfry

Bryant cannot and I say cannot hold a candle to Slone. Bryant had 1 point in the loss to Pikeville. C'mon at least use and unbiased opinion on these post. I am not from Paintsville.

Yeah, Why Paintsville anyhow? Allen Central or Prestonsburg would have welcomed him, and definately would have a better attitude for this young man to feed and grow on.:thumb:

I don't think that anyone has earned the right to be protected by any official. I think that you call a ballgame fair for every kid on that court. One player should never be favored over the other, no matter what his age or grade. A foul, is a foul, is a foul...period!

I agree with this statement. Landon got them back in it and then Pugh lets his ego get in the way of the TEAM. No way should he have taken that three late. If I'm not mistaken, I don't think Pugh hit a 3 all night. He would have been the 4th option to shoot it for those who were on the floor. It's a shame when kids have an opportunity to do something great, and they let their egos get in the way.

Its great to see so much input from so many fans from both sides from such a weak region. The 16th region is so very lucky to be playing the 1st region in the first round (another very weak region). But look out for the second round weak region fans, a beat-down is coming. Its gonna make "yall" look forward to baseball by half-time.

Exactly what I posted - I don't think there should ever be a player that receives special treatment from officials. A foul by the region's best player is also a foul on the 8th grader that gets to dress varsity and only plays mop-up minutes in blowouts and so on. I don't think Dr. Naismith amended the rules to say that superstars get preferencial treatment.

We'll agree to disagree then. If a player who is just flat out better than anyone else, you earn the right to be protected, if not coaches and other players will pinch, scratch, punch, and do whatever to frustrate and get a kid out of his game

 

 

If he that flat out better than anyone else, he should be prepared to handle the responsibility and pressure that the other team is going to put on him. Isn't this one of the things that make a good player great?? Being able to adjust and make something happen on the court.

 

Besides, some of these "so-called" better players are only that much better in their own eyes and the eyes of their parents.

I really think that the Region could be won by any of the teams. I've said from the beginning it was anybodies to take and with all the district runner-ups winning in the first round kind of proves it.

 

My pick from the heart is Johnson Central but I think that Belfry probably has to be in the best position.
