I'm just wondering if someone is going to tell PRPpride that Shelby Valley and Paintsville are in the 15th Region.

 

 

Actually I think PRP was just taking jabs at the east since PRP said the 16th would have an easy road the first round playing the 1st Region winner, but would then lose the next game. :thumb:

One last thing, I have seen some selfish play this year from a lot of teams but Paintsville is about 4 basketballs short of being real good

I agree with this statement. Landon got them back in it and then Pugh lets his ego get in the way of the TEAM. No way should he have taken that three late. If I'm not mistaken, I don't think Pugh hit a 3 all night. He would have been the 4th option to shoot it for those who were on the floor. It's a shame when kids have an opportunity to do something great, and they let their egos get in the way.

 

Yeah Pugh is a selfish player, he only led them in assists this year. From the stats of the game it looks like nobody was hitting anything. With the way they shot the ball last night I don't see how they were even within 15 of any team.

Congrats to Coach Booher. He lost a lot of talent from last years team and still has this team in the region semi-finals. He had his kids ready to play tonight. Now the people up at Valley need to shut up and let the man coach because he has done a great job in his two years there.

 

On the other hand Coach Runyon has his work cut out for him to keep this bunch together for the next two years. Tonight in the first half they all tried to be stars and teams that do that this time of year usually go home early. The "shooting" order for Paintsville needs to be 1st option-Slone, 2nd- Vanhoose, 3rd-Grim, 4th-Pugh, and 5th-Bundy. The entire first half was whoever gets it-shoots it and it killed them. I am really surprised that they couldn't ever get it together this year because if they moved the ball and found the open man they would be impossible to guard.

 

 

Shelby Valley has a good coaching staff. And he is a good guy along with his assistants. I agree, leave them alone and let them coach. They will give you their best effort.

Its so obvious that you HAVE to agree hes protected but tell us how do you earn that right? How much does it cost? He was on the line every time a SV player breathed on him tonight, especially in the last half of this game. Looked like the refs were gonna give it to the BMR but SV wouldnt quit.

By the way, the 50+ he scored on SV last year was in double OT with again MUCH protection and many of the 50+ points from the charity stripe. Impresssive? I guess so.

Lets take off the blindfolds and admit the obvious. The kid is an above average player but let him earn his numbers just like everybody else is suppose to do because eventually he will have to anyhow. It will make him better in the long run.

Let's try to think about the last time a player from the 15th has scored 50+ in a region game as a freshman. Please someone give me a number. I don't care if it was 1 OT or 8. 50+ as a freshman means that you must be doing something right.

So if the refs are actually "protecting" a certain player, then maybe the KHSAA needs to be called with some evidence. What does a player need to achieve to get such special treatment from a bunch of men just doing a that they love. Maybe 50+ in a game might help or maybe a certain extent of hype. Well then if that is the case, erase the hype because that player has backed up the hype, even if the team has not.

A Paintsville player? Being protected by the refs? Now that's funny. Let's not forget that Slone and Grimm both had to sit in the first half with 2 fouls and Valley went on a run and was up by 15 at one point, thats not exactly what I'd call protection. People said refs protected/bailed out Slone last year in his 51 point game but he only shot 6 free throws in a double overtime game and had several drives to the basket, lets put this theory to bed.

I do not know Daniel well but I have seen him play enough to have an opinion that he is an outstanding athlete and a very unselfish player. I think he may have had a bad game against SV (I only listened to it on the radio), but fans of paintsville should look in another direction for their teams underachievement. Only one mans opinion.

Everyone had a bad game, several missed point-blank shots. However, the starting 5 return next year so the future is still bright. I don't have the stats but I'm sure we lost the rebounding game and our defense was suspect at best.

Daniel took the final shot, so what. Like NRC said, everyone in the state knew Slone was going to take the shot. Daniel had made the last 3 point shot he took and maybe he felt like he could hit this one. Is it wrong to have a little confidence in himself that he could make a shot that would have tied the ballgame up and give his team a chance to win? It wasn't a bad shot at all, he didn't have a hand in his face, but I think he did rush the shot a little. They could've passed the ball around a little or something. Also there was another play when somebody dribbled down the floor before the half, and there was a man in the corner wide open, WIDE OPEN, and there was not even an attempt to make the pass. The shot from the corner was by far a much better shot.

Paintsville didn't play good, let's face it. But talking about kid's ego's getting in the way of his team? Get real. Daniel Pugh is a great young man, and a great athlete, but I'm sure he wouldn't let his so called "ego" get in the way of his team.

Elisha Justice from Shelby Valley can really handle the ball. He's only an 8th grader, and IMO he's one of the better ballhandlers in the region.

An inside game would help Paintsville tremendously. But, best of luck next year. Congrats to Valley on the win.

The tigers made a great run in the 4th quarter thanx to the great coaching of their staff and the lack of coaching on valley's sideline........The Riddle kid had 18 and was never on the floor in the last minutes of the game.....The inside game was there all night and booher wasnt pounding the ball inside and it about cost them the game

Take a look at the massey ratings fellas and you'll see what I mean. Your top teams wouldn't make top 5 in the 11th, 7th, and 6th regions. In some aspects you all are lucky you have such an easy road to Rupp Arena. But that's the state tournament set-up.

You may be correct, but one thing I know is that when I see highlights from the "city" regional tourneys - there are empty seats all over the arenas. When I go to Johnson Arena in Morehead this weekend to watch the 16th Region Tourney, I am confident that everyone in Elliott County will be present. When I played in the 15th Region Tourney, the excitement was just unbelievable. We have one heck of an atomosphere in the mountains.
