Shelby Valley 64 Paintsville 61

It was obvious at the end of the game that they "know him", maybe not personally, but they have heard how great he is supposed to be and he had 24, I think with half coming at the FT line and most those on fouls called for him that was not called on the other end. The foul he "drew" with him coming off the screen was the worst call all night and there was some bad ones.

He should have had 5 fouls....in the 3rd, Paintsville reached every trip down the floor but I expected it to be physcial with 13th refs.

And NO SOPHMORE has earned the right to be protected by the officials, Brad Lowe yes, Landon Slone......NO!!!! Paintsville isn't very good away from home and without refs that "respect" BMR

I don't think that anyone has earned the right to be protected by any official. I think that you call a ballgame fair for every kid on that court. One player should never be favored over the other, no matter what his age or grade. A foul, is a foul, is a foul...period!

You can  all you want but everyone that is not a Paintsville fan will tell you the EXACT same thing. I can also tell you if it continues it will do nothing but hurt Landon Slone in the long run.

We'll agree to disagree then. If a player who is just flat out better than anyone else, you earn the right to be protected, if not coaches and other players will pinch, scratch, punch, and do whatever to frustrate and get a kid out of his game

Just to expand upon the inconsistancy in the 15th this year I was looking at Lawrence Co. They didn't make the final four of the District tournament but they beat:

Johnson Central

Shelby Valley

Belfry

Paintsville (didn't play Betsy Lane this year)

They didn't even make the 4 team District tournament but beat the top three teams left in the Regional tourny! How's that for a balanced Region!!!!! Congrats to Coach Rose by the way. He is a good friend and a good guy. Congrats to Bill Mike on the TWO District Championships too! I know they fell short of their goal in basketball but that is still a great feat!

Notice they got beat by everyone of these teams on the road but beat them at home. HMMMMM they were 9 and 1 at home and 1 and 17 on the road lol let that speak for its self.

Valley's young guards were amazing. I can't believe the poise for such young players.

Its great to see so much input from so many fans from both sides from such a weak region. The 16th region is so very lucky to be playing the 1st region in the first round (another very weak region). But look out for the second round weak region fans, a beat-down is coming. Its gonna make "yall" look forward to baseball by half-time.

PRP...is there something to gain from your post??? Other than to show your your complete lack of class and intelligence?? The people of the 15th region love basketball...and they get excited come tourney time...and they look forward to seeing who will win this region...and I personally look forward to seeing the very talented PRP underachieve when they do make the Sweet 16..

I guess we'll see

I'll agree with that. You can't tell me that the folks at Central couldn't be more happy with a first round game vs Pikeville (losing record) and a second round game with Betsy Lane (losing record) and then have Paintsville knocked out if they get to the championship game. The table doesn't get set much better than that! I look for Central and Belfry to duke it out in the championship! Like we've said all year though, this tourney is going to be a dandy because there really hasn't been a consistent team in the 15th this year.

There could be some that may have that mentality , but obviously Pikeville turned out to be more than a worthy adversary. They gave Central all they wanted and more. Remember Central beat Pikeville, Pikeville beat Shelby Valley, and SV beat Paintsville, who beat Johnson Central. See where I'm going? It just goes round and round and round in this region, this year. It has come down to who wants to come to play on a particular night all year long.

You made another post about Lawrence County beating several of the teams left. That team would be just as dangerous as any team left if they had made this tournament. The same could be said for Magoffin, or maybe even Sheldon Clark. I have never seen this region so balanced.

The one team that starts licking their chops and overlooking any team, will be the team that watches someone else take that trip to Lexington this year. The team that does go will have to be focused for two straight games and have the mentality that they are going up against UCLA for two straight nights. They better be bringing their "A" games.

I don't think Coach Starns is going to let his kids look past the game on Friday night. Because the old saying goes, "You can't win it, if you are not in it".

If Paintsville had made even half of the layups they missed last night they would of won by 10. It was horrible, even the GREAT Landon Slone missed a wide open layup last night...

Hopefully you have that right.

.

I agree with it being so balanced. There really hasn't been a dominant team this year. It's too bad I think they are stuck against the Louisville Region at Rupp!:scared:

The team that beat them had an 8th grader and freshman playing guard all night. Lots of young teams in the region.

Those who are saying that "Paintsville is still young" need to read Legaer's post closely. Excellent point!

How long do you continue to make excuses for the Tigers? The most overrated team in the region. Without Slone last night, they wouldn't have had a prayer. Why didn't Slone get a good look down the stretch? Amazing! He was the only player that did anything for Paintsville last night.

My final question is: How long will it take before we see a "Paintsville will win the 15th Region" thread again? I'm guessing mid April. Any takers?

Go SV... 59th district all the way.

The last 4 region winners have come from the 59th District. Look out BL, JC and Belfry...
