September 2, 201412 yr I think that's a very good question. The Cubs have a very good farm system with a load of talent that I'd like to see them bring to the majors. I don't know what the problem is with the Reds. I think they need to get rid of Bruce, Votto and Phillips and bring some of their younger guys up. The veterans aren't like they use to be and the younger players need a shot in the big leagues.
September 2, 201412 yr The Reds will have to be playoff good next year. If not, they have to do a major talent dump and start over. So next year I take the Reds but the two years after that I would take the Cubs.
September 4, 201412 yr Reds over the 3 yr. period, but they will start with a lead and it will shrink thereafter.
September 4, 201412 yr Cubs window opens next year. Their best prospect Kris Bryant is still triple A and killing it. Cubs and I don't think it'll be as close as you guys hope. Since starting bringing in the prospects, they've been playing well. I believe 6 over .500 since August 1st.
September 5, 201412 yr Theo has certainly has corrected a lot Jim Henry's mistakes. I'm extremely excited about the next 5 years.
September 5, 201412 yr If it were 5 years I'd say Cubs in a landslide. With a 3 year window it will probably be close.
September 5, 201412 yr IMO, the jury is still out. The Reds' off season determines the answer to this question.
September 5, 201412 yr ..... Great topic Clyde, and sadly, I don't think it will be all that close. I can' foresee the Reds equaling this year's win total next year, and I expect the Cubs will be marginally better, but years 2 and 3 should see the gap widen dramatically. I would say the Cubs by about 20-25 wins over 3 years.
September 5, 201412 yr I hate to say it but the Cubs. The Red's window has closed and the Cubs have some very good young talent that is on the way.
September 18, 201411 yr Reds over the 3 yr. period, but they will start with a lead and it will shrink thereafter. errrrr, can I change my mind?
September 18, 201411 yr Theo has certainly has corrected a lot Jim Henry's mistakes. I'm extremely excited about the next 5 years. :thumb: Dumped all the overpaid salaries and brought in fresh young talent. Rizzo Castro Baez Russell Bryant Soler Alcantara Not a bad core. Now all they need is pitching. Will be interesting to see what they do with the three short stops. Baez and Castro co existed but Russell is supposed to be better than both of them. Will they move Castro or try to reposition them all? Personally I wouldn't be opposed to Baez (3B), Russell (SS), Castro (2B), and Bryant (LF), Alcantara (CF), Soler (RF) in the outfield.
September 18, 201411 yr Which one is the guy that hit something like 43 homers this year in the minors?
