Many experts say a team makes the most improvement brtween game 1 and game 2 so we'll see what the Birds cleaned up. Bryan Station has some nice skill players and can score--they just don't live up to their name when it comes to defense. I hope the Birds get the offense untracked because I do not want this team to live on it's defense. HHS42-28

You hit it on the head. Lexington public schools are very inconsistent. From head coaching changes to programs. Every now and then you would see a Lafayette and/ or Henry Clay go deep in the playoffs. Not sure why that is. I guess kids/ athletes would much rather play or do something that doesn't involved an authority figure yelling or giving them instructions.

Highlands' coaching alone will allow them to win this one by 2-3 scores. Station has great looking players and certainly plays hard and fast, but they honestly look like they're playing a backyard football game.

Isn't there something comical about our resident NKY 6A fans proclaiming that Lexington football is bad? Have the NKY large schools really had that much more (if any) success than the Lexington schools? How have the large NKY schools done head to head the last few years? 2010 - Ryle beat Madison Central, CC beat GRC, , SK beat Tates Creek; Ryle vs SK in Region Final; Ryle lost to Trinity in Semis. Ryle also beat Highlands in week 10 that year.

2011 - Boone beat Madison Central, Ryle beat GRC, Campbell beat Tates Creek: Boone beat Lafayette in Region Final; Boone lost to Scott Co 14-7 in Semis

2012 - SK beat Bryan Station, Campbell beat Dunbar; SK lost to Scott Co in Region

2013 - Campbell beat PRP, SK beat Southern, Dixie beat Seneca; SK lost to Butler in Region

 

It looks like NKY 6A has only had trouble with Trinity, X, Male, Manual, & Scott County consistently since 2010. Otherwise, NKY 6A has had 3 1st round winners 3 of the past 4 years.

. Agreed. However athletes not programs in Lexington. They should be much further along than they are in Lexington. They do take their baseball and soccer serious. I do believe if Boone County talent was not split among high schools this would be an entirely different post.

Highlands 49-21.

Station might surprise some people this Friday, they played X close last Friday. Dropped a pass in the endzone that would have made it 21-19 on a 4th down from the 4. They also dominated what has been a top 10 5A team the last couple seasons in Harlan County.

 

Lexington public schools are hamstrung by the administration but this seems to be a good year for them. Station seems to be up, Lafayette seems to be up, and even though Henry Clay got taken to the woodshed by Belfry I still expect them to be a solid team this year. (And for all I know about Dunbar they could be the best team in the state and I would have no idea lol)

If they aren't matched up with the Super district this season a couple of those teams could make good playoff runs.

Having moved to Lexington from Florida I see that the commitment to football could be better the weight rooms and general facilities could use major upgrades the talent is here. Coaching I've seen some really bad coaching. On top of that there's plans for a new high school in the next couple of years too.

Where does the belief come from that Station may 'surprise' someone? Highlands is not overlooking anyone on the schedule nor are they looking ahead to a game somewhere down the road. This team is not going to put a running clock on every opponent nor do they need to in order to be successful. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is what is says on the scoreboard

It is so noted that all of 6A outside of Trinity, Scott County, X, Male and Manual are midgets trying to be the tallest. Got it.
