August 31, 201412 yr No holes have been poked in my theory. All I've heard are rationalizations for continued bad football. So what happened in all those years UK played the juggernaut that is UL? Why weren't they more prepared for the SEC? UL shoulda had them ready for the SEC

August 31, 201412 yr I'm a big proponent of building confidence going into SEC play. After a 2 win season, being able to get 2 wins (hopefully) right out of the gate would do wonders for this season.

August 31, 201412 yr Until Kentucky quits spending more on a preseason basketball practice than their entire football recruiting budget, you can't use this as an excuse unless you're willing to put the proper pressure as fans upon the athletic department to get serious about football. You guys can't compete with Alabama and LSU on the recruiting trail because fans are satisfied with the status quo. Not sure how much influence I have on recruiting budgets? Can I just call Mitch? I don't think fans are satisfied, they just don't loose their minds over it. But there was a lot of "Fire Joker" talk every where in the fan base, on-line and on the radio before he was fired. So they weren't accepting what was going on under him. UK isn't going to recruit with LSU or Alabama right now just like Ohio St and Michigan aren't going to recruit with UK Basketball. Tennessee spends over $2.5Million recruiting and are near the top every year in that regard, how have things been on Rocky Top for the last decade?

August 31, 201412 yr Indiana, while no SEC powerhouse caliber, would certainly prepare them better than UTM. Indiana would have to be home and home, teams such as U.T. Martin do not.
August 31, 201412 yr Part of that culture change needs to happen in the scheduling department. Doing things the same way UK always has clearly doesn't work. It's not newspaper guys' job to be cheerleaders for the home team. It's their job to view all sides — the good, the bad, and the indifferent. I agree with you on the latter, but on the former, scheduling will not make UK a better team, it will take better talent to accomplish that, which Stoops appears to be bringing in.
