I guess you haven't seen or heard of Cody Mitchell, Dominic Castlen, Cam Bailey, Jalen Jones, Chase Bowling just to name a few. Yeah! Manual skill players are GREAT. I named the BIG UGLYS/ Lineman and Manual does not have great footwork on the line. Also your telling us that Jalen Jones or Chase Bowling can't start for Manual? They must have some SEC/ BIG 10 players. If so then how come they couldn't stop the Scott Co train?

 

Manual has a DLineman committed to WKU. None of the players you are naming other than Ryan have an offer of any kind from any school according to Rivals.com, who does list non DI-A offers. Players who may in fact help them beat BG this Friday. Looking at the votes and comments, there is little doubt that a lot of people respect Lex. They open it up. To end the streak is a great thing for them. They ended a Boyle County streak of about 23 games or so in 2004. This would be an even greater feather in the Knights' history.

When Boyle ran their streak to 47 it meant a lot, but seemingly more to other fans. I remember that Chuck could have started Jacob Tamme as his QB that season because he had experience as a backup but Smith refused and knew their long range goal of a State Title was to get Brandon Smith in the mix right away and just let him learn. Worked out pretty well. :thumb:

This doesn't surprise me in the least. The teams that are good enough to win that many in a row have obviously won multiple state titles by that point. Those teams always have coaches and players that understand that while a winning streak is great, the ultimate prize and what really gets remembered is a ring and a trophy in the trophy case. (Although a long streak does get remembered as well.) Any coach worth his salt will tell you that he would live with a loss in every game that wasn't related to the playoffs in some fashion, be it a district game for getting in and seeding, or the playoffs itself. As long as the team improves with each result whether a win or a loss, and they work towards the ultimate goal of a state title, that is what a staff and the players really want.

The Boyle game last year was LexCath's absolute worst offensive outing. There was a lot of frustration after that game. But also some regrouping that overall was beneficial (how is that for making lemonaide out of lemons...).

 

I do not believe anything will be intentionally 'held back'. With a new offensive minded coach and new offensive coordinator I fairly sure new plays will be coming in each week. This years team has a broader set of skill players who are expected to contribute and getting more of them involved is probably a goal throughout the season. So the Knights will likely have different looks throughout the season.

 

Beyond the all-important district games this is 'the game' on the Knights regular season schedule. So I do not think anything will 'held back'. It should a fun game to watch.
