September 28, 201411 yr First recorded in 1967 by a band named "Love", I first became aware of it when I attended an impromptu afternoon in-studio performance at WNKU with the band Calexico about 10 years ago, where because it was such a short notice thing, only 3 people were in attendance. They sprung this tune on us and blew us away, especially when the trumpet started to sound right in our faces. I thought that I had died and gone to Heaven. Afterwards while chatting up the band, their German trumpet player was dying to know where there was a sports bar around where he could watch a World Cup Soccer match. I had them follow me to Willie's Sports Bar in Covington because ultimately they had to get back on the road after the match, and I let them know that they could jump right on I-71 or I-75 right outside of Willie's. Theoretically I could've hung with them, but didn't want to become overbearing, so once I showed them Willie's I thanked them for a great show and dropped out of the scene. Great tune. September 28, 201411 yr I bought this album on vinyl by the "Far Corporation" back in 1985 when it was released simply because I stumbled upon it at a record shop and was puzzled about what the heck it was. I honestly don't remember anything about it other than its cover of "Stairway to Heaven" which sounds fairly cool to me in spots. I feel that earlier in the song the words are sung to get them through, but void of any feeling, and nothing like the passion that Plant treated it with. It actually reached #8 on the British charts when it was released, but I don't believe that it was even noticed at all here in the states. I think that some purists might feel disgraced by it. In some reviews I've read some seem to like it better than the original. I can't say that it beats the original by a long shot, but it has its moments of interesting nuggets here and there.

September 29, 201411 yr I don't think it's better than Simon and Garfunkel's but it's more pleasing to "watch."
