Time for the chatter to come to an end for teams around the Commonwealth. Mercer County may be smelling blood with the talk of the Purples being back to reality. The Purples feel they are ready to begin season so the community will stop talking about "last year's team."

Time for the pigskin to do the talking. What about you? What say you about this game? Give us your thoughts, concerns and predictions about this nightcap game at the campus of WKU this Saturday night, August 23. Talk it up!

I think that Bowling Green wins this one 35-21. I think that this one will be a good game.

Bowling Green wins 42-7.

The rumors of their demise are greatly exaggerated.

On behalf of Purple Nation, I want to give props to Dragon fire. True professional. Hope you guys have a good year Dragon. You always keep it classy!

BG has been decimated by graduation and Mercer has been decimated by injury. Got some feedback from the BG scrimmage but need to know more about Mercer 's injuries. I'll have to delay my prediction a few days.

I think BG wins this game, but margin for me will be dictated by how well the QB Campbell Gott plays. Play well and they win by 21, throw picks and Mercer loads the box and win by 7. Early game really important for our QBs confidence coming off a tough scrimmage to Manuel as a very fine Lex Cath team waits on deck.

Scrimmages are designed for learning. Bowling Green is a top flight program with top level players and coaches. I just can't see a team with that championship pedigree come out flat in the season opener. So I think the streak continues with a win over Mercer.

BG 31

Mercer 21

Bowling Green wins 42-7.

The rumors of their demise are greatly exaggerated.

Dragon,

First off, thanks for the scrimmage rundown on Friday. Great information. I also believe that BG will be just fine this year and will win this game easily.

Bowling Green will be too much for a young Mercer County team that will have Dustin Baker taking his first snaps at quarterback. I don't think the Mercer County defense will be ready for the overall team speed they will see from Bowling Green.

Bowling Green-49

Mercer County-7

I don't think that Mercer Co will see the likes of the Purples' "Jungle Defense" come Saturday for the rest of the season. How much the Purples win by depends upon how improved the offense will be from the scrimmage. I have faith in Campbell Gott getting better as the season goes on at QB. Wierson coming back at WR after missing the scrimmage will be welcome relief!

Sic 'em, Purple!!!:thumb:

BG picks the final score in this one. Too much for Mercer.
