August 19, 201412 yr Do you think this was made up, or do you think it has no bearing on how those guys being treated worse feel about how they are accepted their friends, family, community, etc. I hate being assumed to be something just by how I provide for my family. I'm sure these guys are no different. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it were true, and I believe that it probably did happen. Black people can be just as racist as white people, and I've taken heat for that over the years from my black peers.

I appreciate that... I know you and I have gone back and forth on here several times regarding LE, but the same goes for you. I haven't ever seriously considered police work because I'm not sure I could deal with it, and I am VERY grateful for all the good LEO's we have.

August 19, 201412 yr Author I agree with that. Do you think the debate about his Presidency will be because a lot feel he is/was not even close to ready for the job? Or will it be race? Or both? Both. It is extremely hard to have an open minded debate about Obama's presidency with anyone. A very large percentage of Obama supporters(black and white) feel his whole presidency has been sabotaged by republicans because of the color of his skin and that agenda is being pushed to the masses. Trust me, I was at the Steelworkers convention in Vegas last week when the president of Steelworkers said those very words and got a standing ovation from 2500 people. And then Nancy Pelosi came out to speak. The next day Harry Reid. What I took from that is that here are 2500 people who will go home and say those exact same words to their union brothers and sisters. Then I thought about people on here who legitimately are disappointed in Obama's presidency and it has nothing to do with skin color but if someone on here was to debate with one of those 2500 people then the BGP member would be branded a racist. Both sides have valid points but the anger is misdirected and the quagmire continues.

While it would show state of mind and be one more piece to the puzzle it still wouldn't be a factor in a trial. The only way this goes to trial is if there is evidence that the officer MAY have shot Brown while his hands were up OR he was running away. If either of those are remotely present this particular incident seems interesting but irrelevant.

Based on all I've seen, he wasn't shot in the back unless I've missed something, so he wasn't fleeing. No one instance can be isolated and looked at on this. It's the totality of the circumstances. Every aspect has to be taken into consideration.

Not hard to figure out that less people will be shot by police in a country where most police are unarmed. Guns are far less prevalent in the UK in general as far as I know.

I don't know why we are constantly being compared to other countries like the UK when there are obvious differences between us. You are also correct that most front-line officers do not carry guns in the UK. They are quite proud the British style of policing is routinely unarmed policing. That's fine if it works for them, it would be suicide in this country.
