The Bengals did get 6 sacks on defense.

Burkhead and Peerman are in a battle.

Peerman will win a spot on specials alone, Burkhead is battling the Law Firm...and Rex will win that.

The QB situation is going to be interesting. Obviously, Dalton is the starter but over the past three seasons the Bengals have only carried 2 quarterbacks (with a third on the practice squad). I wonder if they plan to carry three active QBs (Dalton, Campbell, and McCarron). Clearly, Campbell is not eligible for the practice squad and I find it very unlikely they would not have McCarron on the active roster because I believe other teams are eligible to pick up players for their active roster that are on other teams practice squads.

I'm just not sold on Campbell even as a backup. There is a reason he couldn't stick with any team as a starter. I wouldn't mind if he and Tate were on the same bus out of town.

Agreed. I haven't liked Tate his entire tenure here. Every time he touches the ball I feel like there is a 50/50 chance of him fumbling. I like the Campbell sign at first but he looked terrible last night. Going to give him the benefit of the doubt with it being the first preseason game with a new team. If he looks half that bad the rest of the preseason it will be hard to keep him and have any sort of confidence in him.

Probably right MTGL. I am thinking they are all three in a battle.

I would probably take Burkhead too because of youth and $$$ over the Firm.

I don't get why they cut a guy that scored a touch down last night.

I thought the Bengals looked like their normal, unpolished selves. Campbell was a train wreck, specials were in the tank, Huber doesn't look right, all of Dalton's passes but the swing to Gio were off, the run defense was horrible, Burfict looked like the only NFL quality LB, Tate looked bad catching passes, overall way too many missed tackles and poor tackling form, Bodine has shotgun snap issues, Newhouse looks like he moves slightly early a lot.

On the plus side I thought both Dennard and Kirkpatrick looked good. Sanzenbacher looked shifty but he looked like he lost half a step. Manning looks to be a solid pick up. Burkhead and Peerman are in a battle.

I know it is the first preseason game and the starters didn't play at all or not much but it was a rough game for the Bengals.

I knew they could possibly struggle with tackling since the NFL has tightened their reigns when it comes to full contact. They've basically been playing touch during practice.

Last years second string QB in the preseason was better than all the clowns last night. But we got rid of him. The only reason Burkhead will stay onboard is because of $$$. The law firm is still the better back.

I said it in the game thread, I'll say it again the Bengals make Western Union look bad. The most telegraphing bunch of QBs in the league. An LB and DBs ideal scenario, a telegraphing QB who simply locks on to their receiver!

I don't get why they cut a guy that scored a touch down last night.

If they know in the long run they aren't going to Keep them.they let them go early so they get another chance elsewhere

Preseason football is just stupid. It really means nothing. Just a workout.

You're wrong. The bottom half of your roster is formed here. Your special teams participants are formed here. You're future players make it here. Ask the Seahawks how many of those guys who hoisted the Lombardi how many of their guys on that squad had critical pre seasons once upon a time. Preseason is only useless because fantasy geeks don't have a reason to watch. Plain and simple.

I just wish it was only 2 games, and expand even more the wild card and playoff games, but don't make the regular season more than the now 16

I don't disagree. Now they allow a "scrimmage" with another team. I think you could evaluate young guys in shorter term no doubt. AS for the extended playoffs, I think that's a great idea, but unless it's a huge financial boon for the league, it'll never get any play.
