That's fine, I just have to laugh about the "report" on the scrimmage. Since this is the first time in many years I'm not familiar with the players, I really would like to here more details on the 7 on 7 but that's not going to happen.

All this winning a 7 on 7 talk is why I can't stand these things. Coaches that I have spoke to rarely keep score. It's not meant to win. I remember I went to one of these things a while ago with a bunch of small schools. Bellevue was out there in a 5 wide set. That season guess how many times I saw Bellevue or heard of Bellevue being in 5 wide. 0 times. Teams typically will not run the same things in these as they do in the regular season and to me that's silly if I'm the coach. Why run something that isn't going to help you get better?

BigTuna ... I think the same is true for scrimmages. Most coaches are playing players in positions to see how they do, trying different plays, sets etc. and not focused on doing whatever it takes to get a win - like they would in a real game.

Are you kidding me with this comment? Not sure how Cooper plays their 7's, but this is not a full field length game with yard sticks and such. Split field with teams at the 40's going in. Hardly anything that someone would be keeping score of at least in Fort Thomas.

Receivers running crisp routes, quarterbacks going through progressions, DBS and LBs making proper drops and reads. That's how 7 on 7 makes you better. Most of the same basic routes are run no matter what formation you line up in. To me the QBs gain the most out of 7-7. The ability to make quick reads without worry of getting hit helps in their maturation.

It's easy to keep count of TDs.

7 on 7 results tell us nothing about a team's future.

It's easy to throw when the only rush is " 1, 2, 3, 4."

Its' easy to catch across the middle when the only hit you're going to take is two hands to the back.

It's easy to guard when you don't have to wonder "hey, will they run the ball?"

I will pass. I was there and honestly was not even attempting to keep 'score' for a 7 on 7 where JV is at one end and varsity is at another and there are kids flip flopping back and forth between them in order to get more reps. If Conner coaches and/or parents were, then more power to them. This has to be one of the most entertaining threads I have ever seen on this site since I became a member many moons ago. Do the Conner coaches also have the official passing stats for each team?

I honestly do not know what the "score" of the 7 on 7 was; that would be very difficult to keep track of.

 

From there I explained it is actually easy to keep track of (I never said the final score meant anything, it's a 7 on 7 after all yet a lot of Highlands fans seemed to get their panties in a bunch because apparently Conner scored more TD's in a 7 on 7 which again means not a whole lot in the end).

I highly doubt I am the only one who chooses not to keep talley of scores in a 7 on 7; I just choose not to because, you know, it's not actually football. I would rather watch individuals and see how they're improving. I applaud Conner for winning a 7 on 7. Congrats! That is fine to not keep score etc. What I was laughing at was the idea that you made about how difficult it was to keep score for a 7 on 7

 

 

So then we had Jack of All Trades response to say basically no one in Ft Thomas cares about the score or the 7 on 7 which is where I laugh because this thread is already 4 pages long and it sure seems to me that some Highlands fans are doing the best they can to not only still look down upon Conner and other programs with snide remarks such as "I find it very difficult to believe that in REAL football game Conner would come close to beating HHS" and with the other posts from you simply because you lost a 7 on 7 to Conner even more entertaining.
