Compared to their peers (massive public schools with tons of resources) they are dominating, they are a perennial powerhouse.

Camp Co and Dixie didn't play each other in '09 and '10. Ryle is 6-4 vs SK last 10 seasons.

 

So... If SK would have lost just one of the games to Camp Co, I believe that we would be talking about 3 teams with 12 wins and CC would actually sit on top at 12-6... not exactly dominance.

I think your getting too worked about one guy making a passing comment about CCH vs BW. And I think your the only one using the word "elite" when downplaying CCH. I don't see anyone calling CCH "elite". Dominant over BW over the past 10 years? Yes.

 

Is CCH considered one of the top 10 programs in the state? I would say yes. Does that make them "elite"? I would say no myself, but everyone's going to have a different definition for the word. Elite to me is top 2 or 3 max. That's been Trinity and Highlands year in and year out- to a slightly lesser degree, St X.

 

This I agree with. I think of elite as being among the best in the state on a consistent basis. CCH simply isn't. Nothing wrong with that either. A team that struggled a ton against a down Ryle team or a team that lost to Conner isn't what I consider elite. Not even top 10. But for someone to label them elite I think comes from the day we love in where it is too easy to toss labels on players and teams. It's the ESPN era where every week during a NFL game they broadcast there is always a player in the game they label the best ever or best in a long time or compare them with the best of all time.

 

It's too easy to do that which diminishes what label they give them even more.

 

There are 3 elite teams in the state right now IMO even though 2 of those teams didn't win state last season.

Trinity, BG, and Highlands some could even throw Mayfield in there and I couldn't disagree. No one else is elite IMO and for bballguy to claim them as elite or even SK well I disagree whole heartedly.

One thing is clear.

 

It is a lot easier to stand at a distance and shoot your mouth off, push your chest out and take shots at other programs, than to actually play a game against the program you are taking shots at.

BW had a great run of success against CCH in the 90s even in years where CCH won the state championship. However, I think CCH has won about 8 of the last 10 matchups with the BW wins coming in 03 and 08 (didn't play in 07).

My definition of dominating is what Highlands has done the last 7 years. No one else this decade was dominating.

 

Dominating is what Beechwood did in their run when they won all their titles in a short span. That is dominating.

And to add to that, a big difference being #2 in the area for 1 year and being #2 in the area every year.

Now that I understand the gist of the conversation here, let me point out that in 2012 when Beechwood almost beat SK, losing 21-17, Beechwood suffered one of their worst losses to CCH just 3 weeks later, final score CCH 41- BW 7. I know score comparisons are somewhat unreliable but if we are comparing CCH versus SK, they don't look very close that year based on the BW scores.

 

In general though, I think this year is a big year for SK. They had some turnover in key players and will be starting a new QB. If they put together another solid season, I think it is time to look at them differently than we all have viewed them based on their previous history. Marksberry obviously thinks he finally has the program at a high level because he finally has started stepping up the schedule. If SK fans want proof that they weren't that elite program until now, just look at the scheduling your own AD/head coach put in place. I think SK may finally have their program to the level uk#1fan has been dreaming about. This year will help tell the tale.

 

Looking forward to a better measuring stick after sk plays both covcath and highlands in '15 and '16. If Dixies schedule permits I'll be at both of those games… :walk:
