SK is very close in talent and ability to Cov Cath, BW looks like a jv team next to Cov Cath.

 

SK needs to learn to beat teams in which they do not have a depth advantage. I don't see any team in this area competitive with SK that plays kids two ways.

 

My concern is not if Beechwood is as good as Simon Kenton, but the part that says Simon Kenton is on the same level as Covington Catholic but BW is like a JV team to Covington Catholic. Is Beechwood a JV team to Covington Catholic?

SK can be a NKY powerhouse. Without question. However, we need to see how they do the next two seasons before we make a declarative statement about where they rank. They are heading in the right direction.

I'd need some context on the BW/JV comment. Were they simply talking physical stature/size? Number of players?

I agree with your SK comments Clyde but am not close enough to BW/CovCath to add anything other than what recent scores have been between the two. I have argued that SK has passed CovCath and working on Highlands and believe that to be true.

Not sure where the BW and JV comment came from or what it was about. SK should be a dominating team in the area with the resources they have etc. yet they just haven't been that team yet. 1 year doesn't make them the team that other teams fear in the area. They, as Clyde stated, need to have similar seasons they had last year for the next couple at least. As far as the BW comment, I just don't see it. BW is just fine and I think will be just fine this year also.

I watched every second of the supplied video and I would have to contend that if one saw either team in that video as far-and-away better then the other it is a case of one seeing what they want to see. That video does not prove your point.

 

The final score of that game was Covington Catholic 28 Beechwood 7. Not what I would expect to see if Covington Catholic played a JV team.

I watched the video also but not all the way through. If anything they looked even as far as the JV comment goes. The score doesn't tell the story when someone says BW looked like JV next to CCH, in fact the first part of the video BW pretty much moved the ball with no problem and on defense forced and recovered a fumble right away also and went all the way down to the 2 yard line before a center QB mishap gave the ball back to CCH. Not sure where the JV comment came from.

I agree, the score is a non-factor in the comparison. The entire video was basically even, it did show CCH scoring three touchdowns, but not easily, in fact, one I believe was on forth and goal after BW made a nice goal line stand on second and third down. The video showed two pretty evenly matched teams.

They had a great season last year....already said that. We are talking about them being considered one of the perennial powerhouses then they need to keep it up, 1 year doesn't automatically get them crowned. As we said lets see how they do the next 2-3 years. 1 year doesn't make a perennial powerhouse.

You are comparing them to the other NKY class 6A schools. THe original comment was about NKY schools, not Class 6A

Class 6A in NKY has been among the weakest of all NKY teams, so if you are only talking about 6A, then yes you are dominating a bad class. As far as resources, you can't compare Boone county schools as having the same advantage as SK. Boone has closed enrollment and 4 schools within 5 or so miles from eachother. Big difference.
