Reds vs Cubs 7/7-7/10

That left fielder was a mess out there too.

Agree. The angle he took on the Bruce double that scored BPhil from 1B was ridiculously bad. No way you can let that ball get past you to allow in the game tying run. Run directly to the wall and then dead left if you have to.

One key to last night's win that is probably entirely overlooked....Third inning Holmberg gets the 2nd out of the inning and Price pulls him. Doesn't let him finish the inning. Is there any doubt the toothpick would've left him in and risked letting the 5-0 lead balloon even more?

My biggest complaint is the roster management. Clearly Pena couldn't play. So why bring him back (he could've stayed on the PL until today), and play a double-header essentially 2 bench players down? When you DL Votto, bring up Soto or Lutz, keep Pena on the PL, then reinstate him today and send Barnhart down. Just made no sense to me.

Pena got an AB last night.

I didn't mind carrying 3 catchers for the doubleheader, especially since Holmberg & Barnhart were starting together in game 2. I assume they were playing together in AAA where Holmberg had had some recent success.

Was anyone else "uncomfortable" when the Reds were using their standard "Godzilla stomping his feet" video to rally the crowd when Wada was on the bump for the Cubs? At least he is a LH and probably did not have a good view of the big screen. :jump:

Right, and it was clear that he couldn't run nor play the field, so they didn't have 3 catchers, they had 2 catchers (well more like 1 and a half), and a pinch-hitter who had to be immediately removed for a pinch runner. Just stupid all-around IMO.

The reds struggle against pitchers for the first time seeing them. Reds may struggle the next two games. Please send these minor leaguers back down and get is some help Walt. Games like this is why the Reds can not have long winning streaks.

When I said Minor Leaguers, I meant Holmburg and Barnhart which both had terrible games. The Reds don't hit first time pitchers very often and most of the damage was against the bullpen. I bet the Reds would have let Billy play a little more last year after his call-up. He is a game changer.

Is there something wrong with Pena? I hadn't heard about him having a health issue. The pinch runner move is going to happen in that situation every time for him.

Supposedly he's been nursing an injury.

Nah, if it was directed at him "Maybe" but even then I don't know. Would you be offended if you were pitching in Japan and they put up a video of Transformers, King Kong, Jaws, any other US Movie Icons?

OK. I had not heard about that.

I hadn't heard about it either. Leake ran for him and did a very good job going from 1st to 3rd.

He better be hurt because he could have speed walked to second on his flare in no mans land. Inexcusable.

:puke: At the lineup tonight...

If he's sitting Hamilton I'm going to have a stroke.
