Upload was 6.24 using 4G but everything else was slower

I really don't believe this site is accurate for bandwidth.

I use OOKLA and it's always been accurate to the internet I'm using.

Wow, that's pretty good! Is that a wired or wireless connection? If that's a wireless connection I want Verizon Fios phone number!

Just kidding that's google fiber

I have absolutely no clue what this means or why it matters. My internet is fast enough for me. I must be missing something on why this matters.

Faster speeds allow you to use more devices without noticing any lag in performance. If you download large files such as videos and MP3s, the speed determines how long they take to download. If you stream videos from sources like Hulu Plus, Netflix, etc., faster speeds mean little or no buffering.

In my home, there are frequently three people using laptops or tablets while streaming a movie on the TV. With our fast connection, movies start playing within a few seconds and there is almost never any interruption for buffering. With a slow connection, buffering can take minutes before movies even begin to stream.

Verizon FIOS uses fiber optic cables, which is capable of much higher speeds than copper cables. ISPs that use cable to distribute signals are capable of much higher speeds than those that use DSL. Dial-up modems are even slower and make streaming movies impractical.

Because most people download far more content than they upload, download speeds are usually much faster than upload speeds. For people who run servers from home, they can sometimes subscribe to services that balance their bandwidth equally between downloads and uploads.

Ping 11ms

Time Warner Cable's supposedly 20 Meg internet.
