A little rocky in here today. Reds win today, everyone will forget about last night as the reds take 2 of 3 from the best team in the NL

I do agree that it's pretty pathetic Bruce can't even get a bunt down with no one on the left side of the field. He did try once last night.

And we saw what happened.

Should a guy at that level be able to do it, absolutely. A lot can't. Bruce is simply one of many.

Bruce can't bunt. He tried last night. He hurts himself. If he'd simply learn, he could add knocks to his ledger and soften the shift somewhat. His attempt last night was comedy.

Wow, for an unabashed stat guy, I can't believe you are saying that. Steals 3 out of every 4 on a team that simply can't move runners along and your griping. Classic. And anyone with a brain knows he's not stealing 90% and I don't recall it ever being posted here.

75% isn't very good. It certainly isn't great. If he was thrown out stealing 2nd it wouldn't have bothered me. It's dumb to try to steal 3rd with no outs. He also had a bad jump so he shouldn't have gone on his own with that jump.

Agree. If he drops down 10-15 bunts for hits during the year (not sacrifices...pure hits), then as you say, the shift likely will soften...which means those line drives in the hole that the second baseman is getting to in short right field, will become hits again instead of outs.

75 % is pretty dang good, especially for a rookie. I agree he shouldn't have stolen third, but when you are as fast as him I can see why.

Last year Bruce was good about going to right field and against lefties if I remember correctly.

Ricky Henderson was 80% for his career. Hamilton is a rookie. He is still figuring things out, it will get better.

Lou Brock 75% (2nd all time in SB)

Exactly, hopefully he figures out getting thrown out at 3rd with no outs isn't optimal with the 2-4 hitters coming up and the other team is totally worrying about you.

If Hamilton steals 1400 bases at an 80% clip I'll retract that it was dumb to get caught last night.

Tough loss. I guess Hamilton has the green light no matter the situation. Hopefully that changes.

Hamilton has 22 SB & has been caught 7 times. Last night was a very, very poor decision, but if he's on base, he has the green light. It's as simple as that.

They did have the shift on.

Frazier was hitting. There was no shift when Hamilton got thrown out.

Exactly what? Ricky was the greatest of all time and 5% better than the rookie. He will be fine and will keep the green light at all times IMO.

Well, the good news about last night's loss is that these threads are a little more lively. It was kinda boring during that 4 game win streak.
