Joey Votto........

This year's team will win 85-90 games because of pitching. They roll a starter out every day that gives you a chance to win. When Dunn was here, we were lucky to have 1 - 2 pitchers that were consistently giving the Reds a chance to win. None of that was Dunn's fault. I hope Bruce makes it to what Dunn has accomplished. The only difference is Bruce is a lot better defender. Votto may not be much better than Dunn other than defense and average. Neither Votto or Bruce will ever average 45 homers and 95 RBI's. I would argue if they wouldn't have traded for Griffey and spent that money on Pitching then, maybe they wouldn't have lost! Don't Hate Dunn. 45 and 95 are not easily found. Those are great numbers

Bruce over the last 4 years... .262 avg, 30 HRs, 94 RBI

Votto over the last 4 years... .317 avg, 26 HRs, 86 RBI

RBI totals are very similar, averages much, much, much better. HR number is fairly irrelevant, as it doesn't really matter how you score, just that you do.

15 RBIs with 44 SO in 120 ABs? He'd fit right in...

The Reds aren't striking out too much this year.

No. the point is more on run production. Luddy the RBI machine has 1 more than the Donkey in 2 less ABs. See he'd fit right in...

I'll end my Votto input here,,,, I would prefer to see him in tonight's lineup.

I agree.

I would hope everyone, regardless of what side of the fanbase you are on, would agree with that. The Reds are certainly better with him in the lineup than without him.

I agree completely on needing Votto in the line-up. I am not a Reds hater. I hope Bruce, Votto, Ludwick, whoever it might knocks the cover off the ball. I just have never understood why everyone hated on Dunn.

Not to beat this Dunn issue into the ground, but I had lunch with a prominent print sports reporter in this market and we tried to come up with where Dunn jumped the shark with the fanbase. His take was Dunn put himself in bad spots trying to cover up Austin Kearns' drinking problem, and he ended up looking like a bad guy in some circles so as to protect Austin's illness from getting out.

I will tell you also that it was 2007 when a Reds' official first told me that Dunn and Harang were the most popular guys in the Reds' clubhouse and Phillips was the least popular. Dunn and Harang would sign anything for teammates' friends, relatives, it didn't matter -- Phillips wouldn't sign anything unless you caught him at just the right time.

At the end of the day, like O'Neill, I think most will see the strengths and not the faults when hindsight has time to set in.

Not to mention, if you were at GABP when he hit the walk-off grannie off of Bob Wickman and the Indians, you know that building has NEVER been louder. Dunn's walk-off slam caps Reds' rally | reds.com: News

I remember watching that on TV^^

I wonder what Dunns RBI's would be if he had a guy like Votto hit before him?

I remember watching that game as well. It was awesome. Is there a video of the HR anywhere?

I can't find one.

However, the only ball to ever leave GABP and bounce into the river is here:

Had tickets along the right field wall for that game. Ball headed right in our direction, but we immediately knew it wasn't going to land in front of us. Amazing.

Much, much, much, much. That's a huge gap.
