May 20, 201412 yr Like I said previously, I thought the Votto contract was smart at the time. He's just not a 3 hole hitter. But he's an outstanding 2hole guy. He's never gonna wow you with ribbies, but is a terrific run producer. I'll argue this way, if the rest of the offense wasn't so anemic, it's hard to say what Votto's numbers would look like. You want to know my biggest beef with Votto? His ole` method of fielding ground balls. That's about it.

May 20, 201412 yr Getting paid like he's the man Who cares? The Reds haven't yet shipped anybody off because they're not able to pay them (with the exception of Bronson). The new ownership has forked out some serious cash to keep guys like Phillips, Votto, Bruce, & Bailey. Hopefully they have a plan in place to secure Cueto & Latos. If so, this team will be alright for the foreseeable future. I don't know how it's going to work, but you can't get upset about the contracts until it negatively affects the team. In my opinion, it hasn't done so yet. Now, if they let Latos and/or Cueto walk because of Joey's contract, or Brandon's contract, or anyone's contract, I will change my tune. Until then, I'm hoping ownership pulls another rabbit out of their hat. Remember, many of these contracts came out of nowhere.

Seems almost impossible Ernie Banks and Joe Torre never made the playoffs, but may have had some winning seasons...Banks is an All-Time GREAT! Arizona was 82-80 the season he was traded there.
