Joey Votto........

How do you think Dunn has contributed to his teams' lack of success?

I know he wasn't the most well-liked guy, and is a little too laid back for some people, but to suggest that he's responsible for 15 losing seasons is a little over the top, in my opinion.

I never said he was the reason, simply that he definitely doesn't help. He's a poor teammate, he's lazy, and he's pretty much said that he doesn't really care about getting in shape, etc....All he cares about is that he can hit it far. He is incapable of playing the field, so he's completely useless to half the league.

He has played a lot of first base since he left Cincy. I know you're a sabremetrics guy, do you have any "Advanced Fielding" stats for him? I'd be interested to see how poorly he grades out...

That's like asking water if it's wet. Sure he's got em.

Don't have any, but did a quick search and he returns a "negative" in all advanced fielding metrics. That's not good.

He's a poor teammate

Except that every teammate he has had disagreed with that. In the World Baseball Classic, Pedroia raved about him as a teammate. As has Konerko, Peavy, Ryan Zimmerman, et al. That is a narrative that I've never understood.

He is playing 1B right now with Abreu out, and not hurting anyone.

I can't wait for all of the Reds' fans that "love him" the day he goes into the Reds' Hall of Fame. Revisionist history.

I never heard he was a bad teammate. Was he a little lazy? Probably but he got the job done. I always liked the guy.

......

At the end of the day, look at their 162 game averages in post #10 and tell me again that one guy stinks and one guy is great. Votto is clearly a more complete player, no argument there, but to act like one is UP HERE, and one is down here is simply ridiculous.

Let's say Dunn hits 25 this year and drives in 75 (not playing against lefties), you want a wager Votto isn't that productive at age 34 -- and making $25 million per? Dunn is making $15 in the last year of his deal, so we'll see what his market is next year.

If you are getting paid a lot in Cincy' date=' you better be in the MVP race or the fans will let you know lol.[/quote']

Not me. Have never liked him, never will. One of the more overrated players on this generation IMO.

Adam Dunn agrees to deal with White Sox

In a different article...

"Well, I tell you -- I hadn't been around Dunner for a couple of years, but it was really interesting to see how he became a team leader," said Barry Larkin, one of the team's coaches and Dunn's teammate in Cincinnati. "He was a big part of the camaraderie on that team. He was holding court all of the time. He came in and was kind of a beacon, I guess you could say. You know, you had all these guys -- Derek Jeter, Boston Red Sox, and a lot of people, you don't really want to tell them how to do stuff, and nobody takes charge. Well, not Dunner."

Not singling you out, but people are furious over all of the "cheaters" in this generation, and how they've disrespected the game, yet here is a guy with 450ish clean home runs and he is overrated.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

You forgot the part where I'm one that's not furious over the "cheaters", and don't think it was a big deal.

Of course you don't think "Cheating" is a Big Deal....look at your Avatar!!! :)

Same here, and when this team couldn't pitch their way out of a sack, I thought he should be dealt for the best arm he could bring in return. Pitching wins, and is why this team still has one nostril above the water line.
