Michael Pineda Tossed For Using Pine Tar

Featured Replies

He was just tossed in the 2nd inning of the Yankees-Red Sox game after he went to the mound with a giant smear of pine tar on the base of his neck. The season series between these two teams should be very interesting from this point on.

You would think he'd learn

In interviews after the last game and before this game both Red Sox players and manager John Farrell said that they didn't have a problem with him using pine tar when it was cold like tonight--they just said that he should be more discrete about it. He was all over the place with his pitches in the first inning when he was touched up for 2 runs then had a big ole stripe of it on his neck when he came out for the second inning. Farrell looked like he hated to say something about it but it was just too obvious. I'd say he's looking at about 5 games.

I'm sure every starter for both teams will be checked in the games between the two teams the rest of the season.

Funny Gaylord Perry story:

Richard Justice ‏@richardjustice 16m

Gaylord pitch fouled back and left grease stain on Arlington press-box window. Asked about it, Gaylord said, "Dunno. Musta hit a bug."

Baseball is a funny sport. Only sport where if you cheat and get away with it no one cares. People only care if you suck at hiding it.

Actually according to ESPN using a foreign substance is a mandatory 10 game suspension.

Remind me of this scene in Major League
