Michael Pineda Tossed For Using Pine Tar

I'm a Red Sox fan and it certainly doesn't hurt my feelings to see Pineda get tossed/suspended. However, I really don't understand why they don't let pitchers use pine tar or something to improve their grip in cold weather. They already have a rosin bag to help with the grip but it isn't very effective when they aren't breaking much of a sweat. By all accounts pine tar doesn't change the flight of the ball, just the grip. If I'm a batter I'd almost rather the pitchers have something to get a better grip, especially if they're trying to throw a 95 mph heater inside on me.

Nothing to see here...

I remember seeing it when he pitched before and couldn't believe someone wasn't checking on it.

Did I hear Girardi correctly when he said that Pineda wasn't trying to cheat and was just trying to be competitive? What kind of statement is that?

He gets a 10 game suspension, but if I heard right, will only miss 1 start.
