April 23, 201412 yr He's better than George Grande and his 'little bloopers' that get caught on the warning track and 'deep drive's to right' that 'Phillips will haul it in.' Agree on this. I don't think Jim Kelch is awful. Have you heard Thommy Brennaman and Sean Casey? Kelch is much better than listening to those two.

He'll give the wrong score, and other info all the time. Drives me crazy.
April 23, 201412 yr In defense of broadcasters, it is not an easy job. You have somebody in a truck talking in your ear, you are trying to watch the action in front of you, you are trying to listen to your broadcast partner's comments, you are trying to keep score, you have somebody in the booth dropping off stats, you have a couple monitors in front of you, and you are also trying to chomp down a bite of the local ballpark food offerings. All at the same time. I respect the guys that can do it well.

April 23, 201412 yr I'd trade jobs with them in a heartbeat. :) So would I! They probably don't care what flaws we find in their performance.
April 23, 201412 yr Can Simon do it again tonight? Guy has been unreal with a 0.86 ERA thus far. What happens when Latos comes back shortly (fingers crossed) if Simon is still pitching close to that level? It was assumed he'd be the guy automatically moved for Latos...

Tradition would usually dictate he goes back to the pen. (Lord knows they can use him!) However, it's sad to think you couldn't find somewhere to use him in the rotation. But, that's only if he continues throwing at this astronomical level.

They should pay those guys more.

April 23, 201412 yr Don't forget the negatives too like living out of a hotel room and being away from family and kids events for long stretches. Not with as much vacation as the Reds tv crew gets.

April 23, 201412 yr Good problem to have though. Absolutely. Simon has been unreal so it'd really be something if he keeps it up close to this level. Regardless, I will feel comfortable with Simon in the game no matter the situation.
