March 26, 201412 yr I don't think so but Cal has proven to be the expert when it comes to landing one and done players and winning with one and done players. I know Coach K went after Wall and failed but I think he has landed a one and done player every year since then. Coach K hasn't figured out how to win a title with a one and done player yet also. He didnt recruit a one and done this year though. Parker is staying 2 years

March 26, 201412 yr Given a few tries he will figure it out, too good at his craft not to I hope so. I'm still sad about the Kyrie Irving year.
March 27, 201412 yr Coach K is right on point with this answer, it's the same thing as saying you're going to tell a smocking hot girl that you will not go out with her at least once because you're looking for a girl who is in it for the long haul.

Cal had 3 one and done players before coming to UK (Williams, Rose, Evans). Thad Matta had 5 during that same period (Oden, Conley, Cook, Koufos, Mullens). BCG created the perfect storm for Cal/UK to end up with a lot of one and dones. BCG left the roster absolutely depleted, and Cal was able to bring in a monster class in year one. Since there were so few good players already at UK, all the freshmen got huge minutes. If there had been a decent roster left for Cal, guys like Bledsoe and Orton probably don't leave. But they did, so then you're back to a depleted roster. Then you win a title and everyone jets (as isn't uncommon) so you're back there again. Guys are getting huge minutes out of necessity. It's a lot easier to leave after one year if you've started 40 games than if you only see mop up action.

And it would have been awesome!

March 27, 201412 yr If only Jodi Meeks stayed, Bledsoe wouldn't have got anywhere near the time or publicity. And it would have been awesome!2011 Final Four team gets better real quick if Bledso stays after playing behind/with Meeks the year before! If Meeks stayed and Bledsoe came, I think UK wins the 2010 title. One thing they lacked was that great outside shooter.Been saying that for a few years too. Then you'd have Bledsoe on the 2011 Final Four team, UK COULD have been looking a 3 straight Final Fours and possible Back to Back to Back titles...If Meeks had stayed and Bledsoe still came!
March 27, 201412 yr If only Jodi Meeks stayed, Bledsoe wouldn't have got anywhere near the time or publicity. And it would have been awesome! Agreed completely. Also, just being able to replay the WVU game I think they win. I think they'd beat that West Virginia team 9/10 times. But, that's basketball, those horrific shooting games happen.
