His games against UK his stats are not that great. I know he had that big game at Rupp a couple years ago but a lot of that came in garbage time. He has struggled with UK's length and athleticism it seems. With that said, that little dude freaks me out to no end haha.

The good and the bad. First the good, my bracket is very much alive and have a shot at HUGE money if UofL wins. The bad, I'm a UK fan and have kin folk that attends UK. I had UC and Ohio State getting knocked out in the first round and had Duke losing in the second round. I'm not crazy, just went drinking and right before I passed out I filled in my bracket. Right now I have to give the nod to UK. The Florida and WS games that UK played were pretty impressive to me, even though they lost to Florida.

 

On a side note, my bracket has Baylor beating Arizona. Do I have a shot?

Regardless of the advantage UK has in size and depth, the one thing that UL brings to the table that has been a killer for the Cats most all of the year is Russ Smith. He can blow by the Harrisons and Young on speed. So can Jones. That creates a lot of open looks and foul problems for UK. Hope I'm wrong but I can't understand why someone hasn't discussed this part of the matchup. Can UL fans agree that they have speed that can blow by KY guards? (Hickey anyone?)

But then the UK bigs (especially WCS) have to be pulled away from the rim.

Since Cal arrived at UK, I think the better team has won each game in the UK/UL series.

 

This year I don't really believe that one team is better than the other. UK won at Rupp, I believe, because it was at Rupp. If that game is in Louisville I think it goes the other way. This one's on a neutral floor & neither team should have a distinct advantage in terms of fans in the stands.

 

There are historical numbers that could give either side confidence too. It's not an accident that Rick is 11-0 in Sweet 16 games. He's one of the best at his craft. Give him a week to prepare & he's tough to beat. Conversely, Cal is 5-1 against Rick since arriving at UK, and that is not an accident either. Last year being the exception, Cal's teams have just been better than Rick's. But something has to give in this one.

 

All of this, plus the fact that it's one of college basketball's most heated rivalries, tells me it is a toss up. The reasons I lean slightly toward Louisville are these:

 

1) In a toss up game like this, I tend to go with whoever has the best player on the floor. Russ Smith is that player IMO.

2) Vegas.

3) I figure I'm destined for an off season of misery with Deuce & Getslow.
