Scott County 62 Trinity 56

Vs Scott County, Trinity struck me as being skinny and the Cardinals sturdy. The Cards do a great job of spreading the floor and letting their guards, and Gilbert isn't the only one, work their magic. Long is BIG, but not all that talented (my opinion) - young, and will be a bear in the future. Has a big time bad attitude. Scowls a lot and talked back emphatically to Hicks who simply hollered right back at him. Billy sat him for a minute and a half and then put him back in the game. NO ALL-Tournament voted for Long from me.

DISMAL showing from the Trinity Students!!!!! DISMAL!!!!! A school of over 1200 boys can only muster half-section of students???? Congrats to those who showed up BUT shame on those who didn't. Is Trinity so success spoiled, OR such a one sport program that there is no interest in their basketball team playing in the state semi-finals?????

Trinity had a track meet, a rugby game, LAX game and a baseball game all on Saturday. That kept MANY students away.

Exactly what I was saying in an earlier thread. You take a kid like Gilbert who has been nails all year and if he can tack on a State Championship avg over 30ppg in the Tourney......Give it to him !!!

I like the idea of nameing the player before the state tourney,,the award should not be based on a kids performance in 3/4 tourney games, but over the entire season,,Maybe some of the people that have voting rights should get out a watch some of thes games..

Did you go to watch a basketball game or check out the student section?

Why would they not cancel those events?

I believe the decision was made earlier in the week to not cancel the games/meets in the event that Trinity lost earlier in the tournament.

Well that is really interesting. I agree with the previous poster in that their student section was embarrassing.

It is a tough choice to make. I agree the Trinity student section was terrible compared to their other games.

Gilbert is a stud, he put that team on his back and is one win away from becoming a S16 legend. I like what I saw from Stafford, he is a nice player for the Rocks. I'm baffled that a 7'1" player was basically invisible the whole game.

I'll stand by my post.

CovCath had a track meet and a baseball game. Not sure what an LAX game is, but they might have had one of those too.

Trinity 1269 boys. CovCath 573 boys (As listed in the tournament program). No Excuse. It's obviously not very important to them.

How many students would that be? 150?

Such is life in Louisville. Most schools have only a small minority of students that show at football or basketball games. If I knew how to alter that culture, I'd work on it. Most people don't care about high school sports, including the students at the high schools.

Such is life in many places today, especially metro areas. Truth be known, this is the case more often than not in Greater Cincinnati as well. of course the state would never know that as they are seeing our area's one giant exception on display all week.

UL playing on Saturday afternoon probably didn't help matters for Trinity.

Gilbert on clutch three to put Cards up 54-53... Called it the biggest shot of his life.

“I caught it and squared up and I jab stepped,” he explained. “His hands were down, so I figured that was going to be the best look I’d get.

“Coach probably doesn’t want to hear this, but my eyes were closed when I shot it.”

Legend born.

That would explain a lot. I was baffled by the showing, but it makes sense now.
