March 17, 201412 yr Saw gas listed. I gotta go with gas, as I just gotta pay it no choice, so I suffer through it. I'd have to add insurance, especially auto insurance. Way too high if you ask me, but you gotta have it. Cars maintenance and repair in general seems to be a perfect fit for this thread. On the "I know I'm going to overpay but I do it anyway," front. I know I'm going to pay a small fortune for a beer when I go to Riverbend or a Reds game. But I'm not going to deprive myself a drink at an event like this if I want one. I guess they'll bury me with $10 less bucks for everytime I do this, but I can live with that. I know what the prices are going in, and if I can't afford to go, then I won't. Agreed on all accounts. :thumb:
March 17, 201412 yr Speaking of gas...I was in Gatlinburg Saturday and figured I needed a little shot of gas before heading into the mountains. Of course, there's one gas station at the end of Gatlinburg or you have to drive all the way back to the other end. So I bent over...and pumped $3.79 gas into my car.

And my buddies were ponying up $7 for a bottle of beer! That's probably higher now too. The biggest ripoff is movie theaters. To buy popcorn, drinks, and tickets cost a small fortune. I ask the kid at the concession at a recent movie I saw in Richmond did they price the popcorn by the individual grain.

March 17, 201412 yr My KY Derby and Oaks tix 2 years ago. "Lowest" priced seats in the grandstand on ground level by the starting gate. After all the Churchill Downs add-ons I spent over $500 for 2 tix to the Derby and the Oaks. The kicker is that I didn't need the Oaks tix but as the letter from Churchill happilly informed me in order to get the Derby tix I was given the courtesy of being able to buy the 2 Oaks tix as well. No Oaks no Derby. Last year I just paid for a general admission pass.
