I would rather have Tubby than Cal.

:ohbrother:

They should have hired Travis Ford.

Worst possible pick of those that many on here consider for UK Coach

He knows how to coach a team during a game.

He has won 1 NCAA Tournament game in his 13 years as a Division 1 coach.

He has made the NCAA Tournament 4 out of his 13 years (5 out of 14 after this year).

He has had double digit losses in 10 of his 13 seasons as a Division 1 coach (11 out of 14 after this year).

He has had losing seasons in 5 of his 13 seasons (5 out of 14 after this year).

He has amassed a record of 52-49 in Big 12 Conference play.

Travis Ford is a mediocre coach & has no business being considered for the UK job.

I'd rather have Cal's recruiting and Tubby's in game coaching. Tubby lost his job because he wasn't bringing in top talent, not because of his coaching abilities. I think Tubby was the best in game coach we've had in a long time.

Tubby had some talent especially last 4 or 5 years (2004 Class was great), his problem is he couldn't coach that talent.

Morris, Rondo, Prince, Crawford, Bogans, Carruth and Stone were Tubby's highest rated recruits all in top 20 or so. Bogans and Prince both excelled at UK but even Rondo for what ever reason struggled with coach and team while at UK

Estill, Fitch, Hayes, Jasper, Meeks and Perry were all lower rated but all performed higher than they were recruited.

Selfish, lazy and won't listen, that's where the coach SHOULD step in. Bench all of them

A coach's best weapon ... the bench. Cal almost never uses it. He is going to play the same guys and hope it clicks at some time. I think if he used the bench more, it would give the guys not playing right a different view. They would perhaps see the game as it needs to be played and they would realize that they better change if they want to keep playing time.

That won't cut it at UK.....:walk:

I believe if Tubby was coaching this UK team, they would have a better record than they have right now and be playing better.

I think you have a point but there's nothing that's shown that all the bench players know how to do it better than the starters.

And they might not be better. But the starters might get better by sitting on the bench, watching, seeing what is supposed to be done and getting motivated to play harder. If a player makes a mistake that you have coached him not to do all year, sit him down. He just might learn not to make that mistake again.

Miami fans would have already started a fund for a banner. Seriously, one year to fix this or we should hire Alan Cutler to do what he does best.

Granted, I actually do think next year will be a fix.

It says something about the state of the program when a highly underachieving and disappointing year results in the #2 seed in the SEC Tournament.

I agree. I think next year's class was the first "block" of building a team that isn't only reliant on 1 and dones. The fact that this year's class is looking like it's going to have 4 Burger Boys returning next season, plus a Jr. in Poythress, and next season's team will be one that should actually allow the freshmen to be, well, freshmen.

If the guys that should return do return, this will actually be a team.

Cal's first and third teams were so good because they had roles. Take 2012 for example, they had a defensive savant in Davis, an emotional leader that excelled as a lockdown defender in MKG, a PF that could score, a versatile weapon off the bench in Miller, a steady pg in Teague and shooters in Lamb and Wiltjer. Everyone had a role and accepted that role.

This years team doesn't have that. The Twins should pick up alot of things that will help them over the summer. Young can learn how to play if he comes back. The sky is the roof for Dakari. Lee will get better. Poythress may end up being a Miller type of guy for UK though with different skills. Willis and Hawkins will be able to help. And we haven't even discussed the incoming guys.
